Paige Gardner of CostumeArt transforms unconventional items into costuming elements -- also uses Copic Markers.

Meet Paige Gardner. She's a Cosplay Artist with a unique perspective. Last month she reached out to us on Facebook, to share her unconventional use for Copic markers. She explained that she is a costume designer who works with recycled materials and non-standard resources. When we saw the costume of...

I had the great honor to be invited to attend Grand Canadian Steampunk Exposition. It was truly one of the richest experiences I've ever enjoyed. While it's impossible to capture the generous spirit of all the individuals who made me so very welcome - these photos relate at least a slice of the awesome adventure that was GCSE 2016!

Found a swanky 1940's tux jacket at thrift ($4). Decided to make a cool epaulette using $1 store gauntlet and thrift store trimming. Using removable Velcro from thrift orthotics so I don't permanently damage this vintage jacket. (Why I'm doing this the day before I fly is beyond me.)

Jen Yates of EPBOT creates my favorite reviews of Dragon Con every year! Her realness, perspective and legit enthusiasm for the on-site creativity is refreshing (and funny!). Thanks for including Oriza and Merry in your excellent gallery for DC 2016!

CostumeArt shared their album.

While I mention Dover books frequently in panels, I never thought to tag them online so they can see their Coloring with Dover stained glass pages used in rather unconventional ways.

I was found out today :D

CostumeArt added 50 new photos to the album: Warhammer 40K Inquisitor | From Re-purposed Stuff — with Paige Gardner.

Lacking sewing skills, foam expertise, and money...this is my run a crafting a recognizable (mostly) cosplay from Warhammer 40K using repurposed and cheap materials. And lots of zip ties. Lots.

So cool! The 'Inquisitor Oriza' project showed up on Adafruit Industries! (featuring more of the WIP images.)

Paige Gardner, a.k.a. Costume Art, created a gorgeous Warhammer 40K Inquisitor costume for Dragon Con. She constructed it in five weeks and except for the corset and boots, the ensemble was made w…

'Missing photos of the bewb build - but here's a crop of the kid's dollar store helmets covered with vinyl fabric - then screwed (with very small comfortable screws) into the back of the wall sconces. Ziptied to a thrift store bra.'
'Seam ripped the prom dress. Hemmed the panels with Stitch Witch. Tacked the panels onto a tank top. The terribleness is hidden under the corset.'
'I cut wide panels from the fleur-de-lis fabric, used a steam iron and Stitch Witch to "hem" the edges. These panels clip onto the shoulder pad, hiding the gaps and other unsightly connections in the back.'

All appreciation to Shea and Joe at CONOGRAPHY for sharing more of their magic from Dragon Con 2016. This special edit really puts 'Inquisitor Oriza' into more of a Warhammer 40,000 perspective. Thank you for including me in your photography plans!

CONOGRAPHY has mastered the art of knowing what you want...and getting it. Tight teamwork, a good plan, literally 3.5 minutes of shoot time, and BOOM...Joe and Shea produced professional and powerful images of this project! (Right in the middle of a Dragon Con crowd!)
