Considering there's less than a month to enroll, if you want a January 1 effective date, you should already be working on your enrollment with an agent. There are new premium subsidies available to both individuals and small groups. Our affiliation with the exchanges permits us to assist you with qualify for a subsidy and apply for a health plan through the exchange. Our assistance is at no additional cost to you. You will pay the same premium, or possible more if you make a mistake and do all the work and apply by yourself. An important number to know, if you choose to apply on your own through one of the exchanges, is the number to look up John Rueschenberg and assigns him as your agent. His National Producer Number/Agent Number is 8398789 and you will be able to enter it when you apply. He as well is available to help you apply, and guide you through the benefits, so you choose your best option.
We anticipate the new 2014 changes to be the most significant the insurance industry has seen since Medicare was established. Everyone must have insurance or face a penalty. It will impact those on group plans too, so don't carelessly think you have nothing to be concerned of. In 2014, most plans are required to increase benefits. Generally, there will be a significant impact on a dependents portion of the premium. We have heard that some dependent premiums will be increasing up to 80%. Those closest to 65 years of age, should see the least rate increase, but it's still 15-25%. For the purposes of remaining competitive, Coverage Point agents are in the process of becoming certified and contracted to offer plans through Cover ...Oregon, mainly because premium subsidies will only available for Oregon plans offered on the exchange. Plans on the exchange will be available for enrollment beginning October 1, 2013 for individuals, families, self employed and small groups. Large group enrollment will be available at a later time. Most people don't realize this now, but most will be required to change their health plan beginning October 2013. Exchanges in other states are anticipated to be similar to Oregon.
