Athletes that are being recruited to play at the D1 and D2 levels - make sure to register for the NCAA Clearinghouse. You must be a registered student-athlete before taking official visits or signing a National Letter of Intent.
I grew up here in Portland and attended three Portland Public Schools along the way. This video helps explain some of my Why and how my role models and mentors helped to shape me into a role model and mentor and friend to the young women I get the chance to work with each day with CrosseCoach and Maineiax Lacrosse Club.
There are three types of able athletes:
1. Physically built to excel and perform at a high level and understands the strategy behind the game (High Lacrosse IQ).
2. Physically built to excel and perform at a high level but does not have the sharpest game sense....
3. Not physically built to perform physically at the highest level but understands the game at a high level.
All three can be successful, but no matter what, each of them has to work extra harder in certain areas.
The first example I mentioned will be your team leader and set the tempo for her teammates if she is passionate about the sport she is playing. The second and third examples need to put even more extra time into their weakness to be able to compete at their best. They too can be leaders. No matter what, each type of athlete has something to offer.
Put in the extra work!
Happy September 1st!
Today is the first day D1 Coaches can contact a Junior in High School and talk more in depth about their prospects.
2019's are Juniors this year and may receive phone calls or emails beginning today as they move forward on their recruiting journey.
Great read if you want to learn more about the timing of committing at different levels!
This makes us so happy 😊

Make sure you are having FUN! That goes for coaches AND players.
Developing relationships with other teammates and your coaches enriches your experience and helps you feel confident and connected to what you're learning! We all improve more quickly when we feel positive and supported by those we surround ourselves by. Coaches - getting to know each athlete's personality can truly help you reach them sooner. We all learn differently and appreciate different appr...oaches to growing.
Take a moment to get to know a coach better - you are the highlights of their day more than you may realize!
Ok. It's time to share a SERIOUS pet peeve of not just mine, but ANY coach that takes themselves seriously and expects the best out of their players:
DO NOT TALK WHILE YOUR COACH IS TALKING.
I don't care if you're diagnosed with ADD. I don't care if you're just tired today. It is THE MOST Disrespectful act you can possibly choose that shows us you just straight up do not care ENOUGH to keep it in line....
You will not be respected back. You will not win points for apologizing or acting like you didn't know to stop talking. You will be THAT player and will now have to earn your coaches respect back.
Hard work beats Talent when Talent doesn't pay attention.
Drop everything else and commit yourself to the moment. 2 hours is all you get with us. Listen, learn and connect sooner to the concepts because you were mentally THERE at practice the entire time. No excuses.
Thanks for LIstening 👍🏻👊🏼👌🏻😁
Involve all of your teammates!
That means on the field and off: Make it about TEAM. Each and every player should feel connected to your team culture which means everyone needs to be included in it as much as possible!...
YOU can be that difference. Encourage all your teammates to come along, try something new, and help make them feel welcome. It matters!
Getting an email out the week before a Recruiting Tournament is key to giving College Coaches enough time to put you on their lists of players to watch. Here is a good guideline to setting up your email to those coaches before a tournament:
