Help for Dairy is an initiative started by District 14 Headquarters East Brigade.
With members who have dairy farming backgrounds, the brigade was aware that some rural communities are doing it tough with the dairy crisis. Brigades in affected communities could find it harder to raise funds, and be unable to approach local businesses already affected by downturn.
So an idea formed –a sister program which partners metropolitan brigades with country brigades to raise $1,000. ...This would assist brigades in dairy impacted areas to purchase small equipment, without the need to approach their community to buy raffle tickets or sell sausages.
A cash donation enables brigades to have dignity of choice in how and when they spend the funds. Additionally, sister brigades might also be able to provide training avenues, an exchange visit or surplus equipment.
We are working with VFBV contacts in donating and receiving Districts, and using mapping from Agriculture Victoria to identify the highest priority brigades. Our aim is to assist 50 brigades across state. We ask that all donating brigades abide by CFA’s fundraising policy
If your brigade or group is interested in helping or is in need of help, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
On the weekend members of the Beaconsfield CFA payed a visit to Cooma Brigade as part of the Help for Brigades Impacted by the current Dairy Industry Issues. Th...is program partners Brigades from areas that are able to raise funds with Brigades who are unable to raise funds within Dairy Impacted communities.
Beaconsfield CFA donated a Protec branch, 2 coupling keys and an esky.
A training session was then delivered at Merrigun CFA on Electrical Hazards and Safety.
The Beaconsfield CFA was privileged to be able to assist a sister brigade making it safer to provided fire protection within their community and at the same time fostering a bond with another brigade.
Today the brigade received a cheque from the Tyabb brigade which came about from an initiative from outer metro brigades to support brigades in areas effected b...y the current dairy crisis. The donation helps our brigade to purchase new or replacement equipment without fundraising from our local area. Captain Stephen Birkinshaw and Comms officer Richard Cox travelled down to hand over the cheque to Burke Brandon who was once a fire fighter in the Tyabb brigade and then to our station to have a photo with the 2 tankers. Thanks to all the members of Tyabb for this generous donation from all our members.
