I would like to comment on this place. I have been staying at this hotel for over 30 years every since I left New Bern. My previous stay was not so pleasant. My daughter was bitten by some type of bug... at our last stay. I wasn't going to make a big deal out of it, but the General Manager, who is as unprofessional as they come (Rolando Hernandez) deserves to be exposed. Initially, I was told that I would be refunded for my entire stay. After I was only refunded for one night, I contacted the corporate office. I was told by corporate that I had to deal with Mr. Hernandez. I sent Mr Hernandez several emails, left numerous voice mail messages, to have Mr. Hernandez never respond. Ultimately, corporate was able to get him on a conference call. He was very irate. He did everything but curse me out because I had made a complaint to the corporate office (who also did nothing). His only defense was because I was staying under the friends and family discount. He proceeded to tell me that I was banned from the hotel (as if I had committed a crime). I've stayed at several Hilton Garden Inn and Embassy Suites by Hilton and the Frankfurt Hilton Airport Hotel. This is my first time at a Double Tree by Hilton. Front desk staff were great, location, lobby looks very nice, bar nice, etc. However, the room did not live up to the standards of other Hilton's I've stayed at. Blotched paint on the walls, old bathtubs with paint peeling off the bottom of the tub. Furniture looked worn and outdated. Bed was slightly uneven... like it sloped down by the headboard. The stay itself was pleasant. Just not sure the price was right for the quality of the room. Needs some updating. See More

Thought it was very nice. The employees were fantastic,everyone of them was friendly, courteous and welcoming. I will be back and will let family and friends how great it was.

The staff were wonderful - room not so much- we were booked for a week- stayed only one night- but they did Comp us they night which pleased me. We come to visit the family and like to take the kids s...wimming but the pool was closed and the room was needing a lot of tlc- nice view though- if they would put some money in their rooms it might help. Arrived this afternoon. Really friendly staff. Room is clean enough but really unhappy pool is drained. It's the week of July 4th and the only pool they have isn't ready. We asked about a discount and... they said they could drive us to the boys and girls club....during summer camp hours....really? Carpets in halls gross, AC outside of rooms is busted, and our room looks like a fight broke out. Really disappointed we paid this much for a subpar room and no pool. Not a "Hilton" See More

This hotel is need of TLC. It doesn't live up to the Hilton brand. Old, outdated, small bathroom with a tub with chips in it. I pre-checked in via Hilton app. After moving out all day from our home in... New Bern, I was looking forward to the room I selected away from the elevators or vending. Upon arrival, one clerk kept telling me just a moment, the other chatting on the phone. She gets off the phone to help the lady that needed coffee pods who came after me. And the woman was being very difficult. 1st clerk finally helps me. Seems surprised I'm a member (maybe the sweat, dirty clothes from moving all day made me look homeless?). I don't pay attention to room number. Get upstairs, room was changed. Right across from ice machine in 412. Super fantastic. My feet and back were so sore I didn't have it in me to walk back down stairs. Took a shower. Yikes. Had water, then it would trickle, then blast hot water. Repeat through entire shower. Ice buckets filled until 12:30-1amish. King bed (comfy) with 4 scrawny down pillows. Thank goodness I was by myself.

Get up (if you call it sleep). Go check out and the I mention the room change to this clerk (6/10 at 8:45am working by herself-didn't catch name or too tired to remember). She says "oh that was me". I explained my choice in room. Her come back was "I didn't think you wanted a roommate". Pretty snide comment. I explained my night and she says "well now I feel bad". My phone number is linked to my account and email if a room change needed to be made.

Poor customer service, outdated hotel, and my ride in the elevator tells me it wasn't just my thoughts as it was discussed amongst other guests. When we visit the area again, we know where not to stay.

Had a fantastic night there last night after coming from the hilton in kitty hawk for the weekend. Everything was clean. Staff was very nice, bed was extremely comfy and loved the view. Had and drinks at christophs...thank you for a great night in your sweet little city.. See More

Upon arrival, both the toilet and sink handles were broken. Maintence was quick to fix the issues within 30 minutes, which was nice. However, these were obvious problems that should have been correcte...d prior to our arrival. The bathroom floor grout was black (under the sink, you could see the original color was white), the bathtub was hazardously slippery, the toilet paper dispenser was barely hanging onto the wall, the beds were so old and worn that you basically sank into the middle, it took much effort to open the door to the standing room only balcony, Although the off season, the pool was gross and visibly growing things, the corner of the box spring had a plastic piece that was sticking out with staples which scratched my ankle walking by, and I'm sure there's more.

There were beautiful views (if you didn't look down and see the pool) and it was close to everything we wanted to do. Unfortunately, those two positives do not justify the $170 a night fee when the interior of the room compared to an interstate motel.

My room was very clean called at the last minute to ask for a microwave and refrigerator and the staff made it happen. The motel is dated and needs to be updated. The staff is great and went out of t...heir way to make sure our stay was a good one. I would stay here again The view of the river from my windo is well worth the stay. See More

I've stayed here several times in the past year due to the location. This hotel has great staff at the front desk but is in serious need of renovations. In addition the rooms could be cleaner.

The staff are super helpful, however the hotel is in need of some TLC. We were on the 3rd floor with a great view of the river and marina. The huge window was obstructed by massive spider webs and sp...iders. The tub was peeling and the toilet was leaking from the back of the tank. The rugs in the lobby were in need of cleaning and the exterior needed some sprucing up. The downstairs restaurant serves a nice breakfast, but I was disappointed in the health rating of 90.5. My flatware was not clean and there were cigarette butts all around the ground outside the window where we were seated. I feel the management is in need of revamping! See More

We did not stay there but ate at Christoph's prior to attending a concert. Starting with cocktails, the selections of vodka were extremely limited and a dry martini contained as much vermouth as vodka.... "On the rocks" and "neat" was apparently a
new term as I had to scoop ice from the water glass into the drink. My wife was content with her salmon dish, though a piece of fish the size of a half dollar seemed hardly worth $20. I had the chicken parm with the accompanying pasta that was virtually tasteless. Service was friendly but inept. We live in New Bern and can recommend a half dozen fine restaurants that are much better.

My hubby and I "run away" once a year to New Bern. This was our 5th year going and we decided to give the Hilton a try. I am a rewards member and have stayed in several Hiltons which have always been ...classy and top notch. This one left a lot to be desired. The bathroom was a huge issue. With cracks and paint chips missing in the tub, I can't imagine it gets sanitized correctly. The cabinet where a fridge use to reside is worn with the door hanging open apparently broken at the hinges. Then, the room we stayed in was directly above the bar/lounge. Not a huge issue until they had a dj come in and play music at the highest volume with zero insulation between us and them from 8pm on. Our intention was to relax. This was not helpful. At $150 we were not impressed. See More

I agree with many of the reviews. Great staff and great location. I also think the gym is great, lots of room, equipment works and a full range of dumbbells. In the summer I love sitting outside at t...he bar looking out over the marina. Alan, the bar tender knew most customers by name, and if he didn't know you, he still made you feel welcome. The rooms however could use some improving, even the rooms on the Hilton Honors floor need some work, they're not in real bad shape, they just need some upgrades and a little more attention to detail. We have been so impressed with the staff at this hotel that became our sanctuary during Hurricane Matthew (as we had to leave our beloved boat in the marina to weather the storm). From the front desk..., to housekeeping, to maintenance, and to the restaurant. They have been absolutely marvelous and cannot do enough to help. The chef managed to whip up a lovely breakfast without power and the housekeeping supervisor escorted us down the stairs (unfortunately without emergency lighting <:) to get us to the front desk. Our room was lovely, comfortable, and spacious and allowed us to keep an eye on our boat in the adjacent marina. Although the downtown area lost power, we had enough lighting to feel safe and water was available. See More

Definitely agree with this hotel not anywhere Hilton Standards. It is in need of updating, cleaning, and new furniture that does not have broken drawers and commode that needs repair. The beds are ve...ry worn and are in need of new mattresses. The pillows need replacing. Makes one wonder did they out on a clean feather comforter for new guests. We stayed 5 nights and only had housekeeping 2 days...never a bed linen change or cleaned bathroom or sink area. The other 3 days, we waited until 6 PM and had to call the front desk numerous times each day before anyone brought us clean towels! Had to throw away socks because they were ruined by the sticky dirty carpets. See More

If it wasn't for the customer service that we received from the staff I would have rated this hotel as a 1 star. The location of the hotel is great. This should not be listed as a hilton property it'...s more like a motel. The hallways and elevators were the same temperature as it was outside and it was 100 degrees. My air conditioner kept going out. The water didn't get hot. The food was great. This is a pet friendly hotel and the person next to our room had a very loud dog. We had a balcony with no tables or chairs. The refrigerator didn't work. Dirty bath tub. The list of what went wrong was endless. The owner should really invest in this hotel the potential for greatness is there. Thanks Aly, Diana, Dajah and Jeff for your excellent customer service. I pray that the owner fix the air so yall don't have to continue to use box fans at the front desk. See More
