Well that's it. Vulcan is all wrapped up and transformed from the stock Thermaltake P3 to project Vulcan.
Did anyone see it at EB Games Expo?

#MWAVE #MODWARS - Update!

So all the build logs have been done, so where have I been?

Well, I've had an awesome run of luck in short I lost all images relating to this build because I had the OS on my SLR crash (weird right?) and the whole SD card went to poop. I tried all kinds of recommendations from peeps and I managed to get the 'files' off but all images were only partial and none usable. I guess I'll just have to upgrade to a GH4 or something...

...

Anyway, these are the images I had on my phone, they are dirty and an embarrassment but they show the progress of the build. I'll try narrate where appropriate.

Because of my choice of PSU the 24pin and EPS aren't actually modular so a solution needed to be though up to make that as neat as possible.

Solution was to notch and recess the PSU into the case. It actually worked mickey mouse! Coming up flush with the underneath of the case.

Actually really happy with how this worked out. Its held in with a aluminum strap I made that was bent around the PSU.

MWAVE MODWARS!

Wow. I can't believe my luck at the moment. My Dremel started to arc and died. Now I've finally got to sit down and go through the progress photos for build and the whole SD card is corrupt and all pictures gone!

Here are some quick snaps I managed to get of it finished before it was boxed and gets sent back to MWAVE

Now I'm not 100% but there's a small chance I've over ordered the acrylic for #MODWARS for MWAVE competition.

So first update for the MWAVE MODWARS competition, Project "Vulcan"

Working with the P3 and going with a No Mans Sky theme what better than build some sort of space craft.

I've just started to template out how I want it laid out and spacing the critical components to make sure it will work.

...

Next steps is to build these parts out of proper materials and starting filling the gaps and adding details!

What do you think so far?

I thought this might happen.
Australian enthusiasts were freaking out over early pricing but it looks like we'll be closer to the direct conversion + GST ($1060) than first thought.

With Galax and Palit often being the cheapest cards and some cheaper retailers we should see some sub $1100 options.

What's better than 1 set of SteelSeries H Wireless headphones? 2 sets! Well kinda as the H Wireless was relabelled as Siberia 800's.

Unfortunately after a few years of constant use my trusty SteelSeries H Wireless headphones batteries started to lose battery life. Even though they were out of warranty I reached out to SteelSeries for replacements.

Unfortunately because of tight freighting rules they couldn't send me replacement batteries (which they would have done) so to get... around this, they send me a whole new headset!

Big thanks to SteelSeries and credit where it's due, really great customer service!

Our recent NVIDIA build has been a HUGE hit around the world and here's a video we did on the build. We also talk about our previous builds we've done in the In... Win 909 Chassis (one of our favourites). NVIDIA GeForce In Win ANZ Avexir Australia Bitspower Australia ASUS Republic of Gamers in Australia. Apologies for the rushed video. We're to Computex in a day and really want to get this done before that :)

The GTX1080 NDA has lifted. I think that for the most part, if you remove any 'hype inflation' NVIDIA did deliver on what they presented. Testing has been done with aftermarket coolers to remove an possible thermal throttling and the reference GTX1080 is certainly being held back by power delivery.

With a single 8pin the max in spec power delivery is 225w, with a locked TDP increase on the FE 1080 being 120% limiting power consumption to 215w.

I'm interested to see what non-ref cards come out and what they are able to do with custom BIOS and some really juice thrown at them...

Tip for today: if you're going to build a life sized R2-D2, have a really large workbench...

A big thanks to AOC Gaming for sharing my LED project on their Twitter. :)
