Who should take this course?
Everyone likes to scuba dive or snorkel in warm, clear water on a vibrant coral reef, yet many people know little about what they’re seeing or the importance of reef ecosystems. The AWARE - Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course helps you appreciate the complexity of these habitats and teaches you how you can help conserve these vital systems.
Anyone who has an interest in the aquatic world can take this course. There are no prerequisites or age restrictions and no water sessions are required to earn this non-diving certification.
What will you learn?
Through classroom discussions, you learn:
•How coral reefs function and the complex nature of life on a reef.
•Why coral reefs are so important.
•Why many coral reefs are in serious trouble.
•What you can do to prevent further decline.
•How Project AWARE unites divers and water enthusiasts to make a difference.
Please join me during my Birthday weekend for a Project AWARE Dive Against Debris dives. We will be diving 2 different sites to collect the Debris that unfortunately continue to accumulate in our ocean. From the smallest bits of plastic, car batteries and appliances, to enormous fishing nets, "stuff" from our daily lives makes its way to the ocean by the ton every day. As Earth's growing population consumes more disposable goods, the items we discard, even thousands of miles inland, are choking our ocean planet.
Join us in the battle against marine debris and Dive Against Debris. Your local actions contribute to a clean, healthy future for the ocean.
In spite of the rains this week and last we are making progress. Deep Obsession is getting a facelift. Today along with first coat on the boot stripe, priming of running gear, filling the fuel tank ( always a good sign), she had her name rightfully put back on by Jordan Vilonna. He did a great job quickly and perfectly. Had to know he’s from Long Island only 10 minutes from where I grew up. ( ok I haven’t grown up).
We will be back shortly better than ever.
Having a battle with the weather. It’s the dry season. Why is it raining so much? Can’t paint!!!
However we’re working on some surprises for Deep Obsession.
Won’t be long now. We’ll be back on then Reef’s soon. That is if it ever stops raining. ⛴⛴
Watch this space.
