We are proud to announce that “Chicago the Musical” is coming to the Art Park Players’ stage throughout the month of February!
From the incredible dance numbers to the talented cast, the production has everything that makes Broadway great, and the theater is thrilled to begin performances.
“We want to encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to see ‘Chicago,’ the world-renowned Broadway production, come to our very own community theater,” Production Director D...avid Eck said. “Our talented cast includes Chelsee Jernigan as ‘Velma Kelly,’ Alexia Valente as ‘Roxie Hart,’ Tommy Hysler as ‘Billy Flynn’ and our beloved Susan Mele as ‘Matron “Mama” Morton.’ You won’t want to miss this production!”
“A Dream Show for Dancers and Choreographers”
According to Heather Steele – Choreographer for the production – working on “Chicago” represents an opportunity to see one of her own favorite Broadway shows come to life.
“I’ve seen Chicago twice on Broadway, which makes being involved in this production that much more special for me,” she said. “It’s done in that signature Bob Fosse style – seen in ‘Pippin,’ ‘Sweet Charity,’ and ‘Cabaret’ – it’s a very specific style with dramatic, intricate movements. It’s very well received and a lot of fun.”
Of the 12 dance numbers in “Chicago,” Steele said it’s very difficult to pick a favorite.
“‘All That Jazz’ is probably my favorite because it’s such an iconic piece, but each number is incredible,” she said. “‘Chicago’ is a dream show for dancers and choreographers alike.”
The cast for “Chicago” also includes Nick Thomas as “Mary Sunshine” and JD Mathis as “Amos,” as well as Lacey Myers, Suzie Ruege, Taylor Wismeg, Kierra McKay, Gabriela Rosales and Kayla Skinner as “The Murderesses.”
Crew includes Alex Musgrove (Musical Director), Joe Piper (Technical Director), Gail Eck (Costume Designer) and Margo Staley (Stage Manager).
The Art Park Players will perform “Chicago” on February 9-11, 16-18, and 23-24. Evening performances (Fridays and Saturdays) begin at 8PM with dinner served at 7PM. Sunday matinee performances begin at 2PM with dinner served at 1PM.
Dinner and show tickets are $30 each with reservations required, while show-only tickets are only $15 each. Reservations are recommended, and attendees are reminded that seating begins 15 minutes prior to show time.
Area drivers are advised that the railway intersection at Center Street and State Highway 225 will be closed from 8:30AM-6PM tomorrow (Tuesday, January 30) for maintenance.
