We talked with many #hiddenhomeless when the Denver's Hidden Homeless project was active. It was a growing concern, even in Denver.

Each year, US cities give thousands of homeless people one-way bus tickets out of town. An 18-month nationwide investigation by the Guardian reveals, for the first time, what really happens at journey’s end

“Urban Peak is one of the few shelters in Denver that serves young homeless people exclusively. At the holidays, residents are encouraged to spend time with friends or family members if they have somewhere they can go, but many don’t want to go home — or can’t.”

Shelter staff and volunteers at Urban Peak try to recreate those familiar holiday sensations, but joy isn't always straightforward here.
More than 232 homeless people died in Denver in 2017, the most ever since numbers have been tracked by advocates and at least 60 more than the number of deaths last year.
