Joint Task Force-Bravo added 7 new photos.

More than 300 members of Joint Task Force-Bravo, Special Marine Air-Ground Task Force and the Honduran Air Force gathered Sunday evening on the 1st Battalion, 2...28th Aviation Regiment’s “Warrior Ramp” to remember and honor the life and service of U.S. Army Spc. Kyle Gantt, who was found unresponsive this past July 20 outside his on-base living quarters. The common theme that was repeated by all who spoke about Gantt was that of his sense of humor and ability to make everyone smile.Spc. Gantt is survived by his wife and two children. Today Secretary of Defense Ash Carter visited Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois and met with some of our newest recruits going through U.S. Navy boot camp. He also met with instructors to discuss the challenges and opportunities they see as they train recruits during their first stage of military service.

Earlier in the day, Secretary Carter delivered the oath of enlistment to seven recruits at the Military Entrance Processing Station in Chicago and saw firsthand the changes they are beginning to implement to digitize how we process new recruits.

Today Secretary of Defense Ash Carter will travel to Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois, to visit with some of our newest recruits as they go through Navy boot camp and prepare to join the Force of the Future as sailors in the U.S. Navy. While there, he will tour USS Trayer (BST 21), a 210-foot-long Arleigh Burke-class destroyer simulator, which is the final test for Navy recruits and is a 12 hour evaluation program with 17 ship board scenarios.

This past June, nearly 1,100 airborne soldiers from seven nations jumped into Hohenfels and Grafenwoehr Training Areas for Swift Response 16. The timing of the operations were an exercise in speed, and a demonstration of how quickly and effectively NATO forces can handle complex operations.

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter is visiting Fort Bragg, N.C. today where he will meet with soldiers from the XVIII Airborne Corps and its commander, LTG Steve Townsend, who will soon be deploying to Iraq to take over the lead of the counter-ISIL military campaign. The corps is often called the "U.S. Army Contingency Corps" because they can deploy on short notice anywhere in the world.
