1851 Confederate Navy. This is how Dixie Dave enjoys his down time.
Family cookout today and then this 1851 Confederate Navy shooting 30gr loads of loose Pyrodex RS (yes I know that's considered to be a hot load for a brass f...rame) I also got to try out an 1858 New Army (not in the video). I decided to play with the slow motion video settings on my phone and love the results.
I'm not using Bore Butter as long as the balls leave a good lead ring and managed to put around 30-40 rounds down range today before calling it quits. Sad thing is now I'm seriously looking into a custom made cowboy rig and a second 1851 so I'll have one for each hip.
I'd honestly have no issues using this as a carry gun as I really like it that much there's just something about the historic feel, accuracy, and thrill that comes with shooting it. I've always been a fan of a well balanced revolver and this one meets my definition of that. While you won't catch me spinning it with the chambers loaded out of safety concerns when it's empty it's balanced enough for me to twirl it like I do my 22LR single action and it feels right at home in my hands.
