Wasn't quite sure what to expect form Dos Amigos, since for so many years it was a landmark bar/summer spot with live bands outside on the patio, overlooking Lake Erie. I was really surprised at the b...eautiful renovations and the overall appearance of the restaurant now. Ambiance : ...The restaurant, bar and patio area were all extremely clean with a distinctive Mexican theme. The patio was beautiful, with lots of tables, couches and fire pits, all overlooking the Lake. We sat at the bar for awhile, and the bartender was very friendly, helpful, and funny. She took our order, and we then went outside to sit by one of the fire pits. The music that was playing was really nice, as background... although I still miss the nightly bands and the bar/beachy/volleyball atmosphere it was so well known for. You have to accept that it is no longer that type of place, but rather an indoor/ outdoor Mexican restaurant now. The view is still beautiful! One BIG plus is plenty of parking. Some of the new Hamburg village restaurants do not have such ample parking. Additionally, the staff were all very nice, and the service was quick. It was not overly busy, so I am not sure how the service will be on a hot summer night, when it would be much busier. The presentation of the food on our plates was very pretty, and the food was really hot. I had the veggie enchiladas, with black beans and rice. It was very good, with the exception of the ratio of enchiladas to the rice and beans. Would rather had more of the enchiladas, and not so much rice and beans. Overall though, the portion was plenty for me. The sangria was very good, as well. After dinner, we moved down on the lower patio, closer to the lake. The night was beautiful and perfect in so many ways. I will definitely try Dos Amigos again, and welcome any eatery or bar that is on our beautiful waterfront. That in itself made it very enjoyable! My husband and I went there the first time during restaurant week for his birthday. The food was excellent and I was a little surprised since I had heard mixed reviews and not sure what to expect. I the halibut and it was incredible. It was a huge piece of fish, but it was cooked perfectly. My food was so good I honestly can't remember what my husband had, but it was good. The service was impeccable even though they were very busy. We had made reservations which was suggested and our table was ready and waiting. I'm from San Diego, CA and the Mexican food there can be fabulous or just fast food, but it's always good. This was different from the normal CA Mexican or TexMex, but it was delicious. I would suggest a little more salt in the guacamole, but that's my preference. I gave them 4 stars because I feel the ambiance and décor could be a little warmer and more welcoming. It felt vaguely like a high school cafeteria. The bar area is a major improvement over the previous restaurant and everything feels very clean and fresh. Keep up the good work. See More

Mediocre at best.. I'll start with the good aspects. Service was quick, and the waiter was attentive; albeit he did seem to be rushing us along (possibly because there was a reservation 1 and 1/2 ho...urs from the time we were seated. The pork belly appetizer was delicious, and surprisingly inexspensive. That is where the good aspects end. My mother ordered a poblano dish with a very misleading description. My father and I ordered tacos (three each) which were quite average. In fact, the beef brisket taco tasted exactly like ground beef with mccormick's taco seasoning. I will not be returning to them anytime soon. What's worst is that I see that Dos Amigos has quite a few negative reviews, and yet they don't even address the reviewer and offer to redeem themselves. As I have worked in a newly established restaurant myself, I know that it is crucial to business that they confront and act upon mending the (soon-to-be-ex) customer's opinion. Apparently they don't care about that sort of hospitality. See More

2nd time we have gone, limited outdoor seating to eat, different menu at the bar we were told 1st time we went. Not a single complaint from our party this time. Fried plantains were amazing for the 2n...d time, the pineapple helly is a favorite. Quac & corn app were delicious yet again. We had the crab cakes, corn/shrimp chowder, lobster tacos (amazing), fish tacos, buritto, the barbacoa & the grouper special - everyone was pleased. An amazing salted caramel pie to finish the meal. We went to go there for dinner last week and they said they had no tables available outside so when we out there they were all empty... so we sat at the outdoor bar. At first the bartender was attent...ive and friendly and took care of our first drink. Once it got a little busier he forgot about us and keep forgetting our drink and then forgot to come back for like 25 minutes to get our food order. We ordered the nachos which did take long- then the burger came 30 -40 minutes later and we were already ready to cancel the burger because it took so long and wanted to leave. There were only 2 bartenders behind the bar- the owner came behind the bar to help after everyone was waiting a long time to order a drink or food or get their bill. He didnt even ask if we wanted our drinks still or anything. Food was good but service was very very slow and not attentive at all. It was a beautiful day so they def. should have had at least 4 bartenders behind the bar helping. See More

Come there for the food, stay for the sunset & relax around the fire pits. We try to go there once a week to enjoy a relaxing dinner and sunset. Service is always good and friendly but not overly so, is always great. I've never had an issue with waiting for a table or rude service as described in some of the reviews. Looking forward to coming out for brunch soon. See More

We made reservations ahead of time and were seated right away. The waiter was very friendly but our drinks were not kept full (small glasses) we had chips, salsa, caso and guac. The caso was greasy an...d the quac tasted very much like lime. We did Not eat it (the waiter offered to take it off the bill)the food was not good, we had high expectations and it was a total let down. Very limited menu. We went outside after dinner for a drink. That was nice of course the water view, seating & fires. We would go back only for the outside bar would not eat there again! See More

We've been excited about going to Dos Amigos, but it was a bit of a let down. We ordered two appetizers, which were large in size and pretty good. The fried plantains were just dry chips, not what I expecting. The queso fundido was kind of thick and tasteless, but the salsas and guacamole were good.

My husband's salad had greasy meat and crunchy rice. My chicken taco was good, but spicy. The steak taco had a piece of completely raw steak in it. When I showed my server, she made a comment that they "made it more medium". It was 100% raw. They left the raw taco on the bill.

The lake view was pretty, the inside was spacious, the bathrooms were gross.

We will not be rushing back.

Went there last night with some friends..the service was great. The menu selection was very sparse and the waitress when we asked mentioned things available that was not even listed on the menu. The d...ecor is very confusing it's like a nautical, mexican, night club feeling. Wasn't very crowded for a sat evening. It's okay I will give it another try but maybe just for drinks. See More

We went for a birthday dinner with a 7pm reservation on a Tuesday night. We got there early and they still sat us on the outside porch with the beautiful view. Our server, Chloe, was wonderful!! Servi...ce was prompt, attentive, friendly, and with a beautiful smile . We tried the "margarita flight", which was good, but ridiculously priced at $18. Our food was delicious and the "birthday treat" they brought out was amazing-they even wrote happy birthday on the plate in strawberry sauce-nice touch! After dinner we took a drink down to one of the fire tables. So relaxing to hear the waves and sit by the fire. This is only a little over a mile from our house and I can't wait to go back! See More

The drinks were great. Lobster taco delicious & paella was amazing! However, the barbacoa was flavorful but way over done to the point of being inedible. The server was very understanding & there was charge for my meal or what I had to replace it. I would try this place again & get the paella! See More

Can't say enough good things about this place! Food was great, staff was great, (especially our waiter Justin!) Had dinner on the outside porch and then sat on the comfy couches by the water with the... ambiance of the fire and sunset. Was a fantastic Buffalo evening with friends. Will definitely be back! Aug. 10th was my second visit to Dos Amigos. My first visit was during opening week, and while the food was lacking (especially for the price), I thought the service was good and the atmosphere/remode...l was great. However, my second visit me and a friend headed out to the outside bar to grab a couple margaritas and lite dinner. The bar was not that busy, we were able to walk right up to the bar but it took over ten minutes for us to even get acknowledged by any bartender (the two on my receipt: Allison and Haley). They all walked past us multiple times (as did the one or two other(s)) NEVER even acknowledging that we were even standing there - looked at us but never said a word. I don't mind waiting for you to take care of people who were at the bar before us - I serve, I get it but the fact that you can't even acknowledge your customers is not good. Especially when one of them was literally one foot directly in front of me making drinks, we were staring at her, she knew we were there and said nothing. Then has the audacity to finally walk over to us and ask us if we have been helped yet when she knew very well that we had not been helped. Very disappointed in the service received. See More

One of the most appalling restaurant experiences I think I’ve ever had in my whole life. My mother and I both ordered the same thing, a burrito, and did not care for it, so we informed the waitress a...nd she was kind about it. We told her we wouldn’t like to order anything else so she took our plates full of the food that we did not eat...and then we got the bill and our burritos were still on the bill even though we didn’t eat them. We informed one of the employees and the (what I assume to be) owner of the restaurant came over. He abruptly sat down at our table and began grilling us about why we didn’t like the food, and said that we were the first customers he’s ever had in the 4 months they’ve been open who didn’t like the food. We told him the pork was dry (even though the food wasn’t very good for more reasons than that) and he continued on and on talking to us in a completely condescending manor, essentially calling us stupid because apparently “if you order pork without the sauce it’s obviously going to be dry.” Uhm, no sir. You just don’t know how to cook your meat correctly, and you clearly have minimal if any experience in the restaurant world (which I have worked in for 10 years) because you have no idea how to speak to your customers. Sir, if this is going to be your approach to every customer who doesn’t care for your food I can guarantee your restaurant is not going to last very long, especially under your management. Learn how to speak to people as equals, not like they’re below you. See More

Despite all the negative reviews, this place was 100% on point with everything. The patio was absolutely gorgeous, the sunset was breathtaking, the coronarita was perfect, and the food was awesome.

Beautiful view, delicious food, friendly staff. Biggest complaint - the dining room is way too loud to have a conversation. We requested outdoor seating, but there was a mix up and we were seated The hostess was very nice and did her best to get us outside quickly. A few kinks need to be worked out, but overall, it was really enjoyable. See More

I've heard mixed reviews but decided to try for myself. The food was amazing! We were a party of 4, ordered something different and we loved everything. The only issue was we waited over an hour for o...ur food to come out. Not sure what happened there?? But I will definitely be going back! See More
