Yesterday Des Wells passed away. Des has been at Baskerville that much longer than most of us and the support he showed us has been irreplaceable for many years. He will be sorely missed by all. From everyone in the drifting community we send our condolences to his family and friends
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of, friend and long time volunteer, Des Wells (yesterday 1st Jan 2018)
He will be greatly missed by all within the motorsport Community and we send our condolences to his family at this sad time.
2017 was the first time in Tasmanian drifting history where competitors had the option of entering two Tasmanian Drift Series, one run by Drifting Tasmania and the other by mainland promoter DCA - Drift Challenge Australia. With the news of Drift Challenge Australia continuing to run their Tasmanian series in 2018, Drifting Tasmania has made decision to concentrate on practice day events for 2018 so as to not overpopulate the 2018 calendar with competition drift events. Drift...ing Tasmania’s main objective is to improve and grow drifting in Tasmania, not always by running and promoting our own events and we believe this is the best step forward for 2018. The committee does not see this as a backwards step, in fact this will give us more time to add value in other areas of the sport in Tasmania.
A big thank you to all of our sponsors, committee members, officials, volunteers and most importantly the drivers for a fantastic year and bring on 2018!
Only a few more days until the final event for 2017 kicks off! Make sure you come check out driving from 10am.
One of my favourite things about after drift events is seeing what the boys and girls out of track can do with the cameras and every time they keep blow my mind!
