Thanks everyone for helping stop this bill yesterday---the legislature did listen to local citizens, brewers, distillers and wineries. We now have a more sane proposal to move forward WITH our input on revising some of the antiquated laws regarding alcohol production in WI. Cheers to all of you!🍺🍺🍺
Here we go again. For those of you who support small breweries and other alcohol producers in WI, please contact your Senator today and tell them to oppose SB801. This legislation, similar to the bad bill from last summer, is being proposed for vote TOMORROW with no input from anyone in the WI Brewers Guild or other representation of small craft breweries.
From the WI Brewers Guild: The “liquor czar” bill also has now been expanded to include a special permit that exem...pts a single multi-million dollar resort from the laws and regulations to which all other alcohol beverage producers in Wisconsin must abide. This “resort manufacturer” permit would be limited to a resort that includes at least 300 guest rooms, at least one spa, and a 36 hole championship golf course. This is protectionist policy at its worst. It is a favor given to one wealthy business at the expense of the small businesses that blazed a trail by building their businesses from scratch and played by the rules that applied to all.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TODAY! This is terrible. Yet another attack on small alcohol producers in Wisconsin. The Liquor Czar has been resurrected with a vengeance th...at includes a carveout that would give one of Wisconsin’s wealthiest families advantages and opportunities that no other alcohol producer, small or large, would be able to enjoy. This is Crony Capitalism at its worst. This bill is scheduled for a vote FRIDAY morning in Madison. Call your State Senator TODAY and tell them NOT to support SB-801! DO NOT HESITATE!

Thanks to all of our fans for being a part of this movement---this success is also helping the communities that have craft breweries grow economically as well!
Why we love Soldiers Grove:
For those of you who've visited our brewery and heard the story of how our building was a part of the historic Solar Town story of moving the business district of Soldiers Grove after decades of flooding in the 1980s, this is a 20 minute video of the story through the eyes and voices of local residents. We're proud to be a new part of this history as our building once housed the old IGA that was moved to be part of Solar Town. The local citizens, here and around the Kickapoo, chose this sustainable option rather than focus on "controlling" the river through projects such as the La Farge Dam (now the Kickapoo Valley Reserve). Soldiers Grove is our community and we're glad to be a part of the economic development that will continue to help our village grow and prosper.
For those remotely interested in where I came from, I was raised in lil' Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin.
