Huge congrats to our GSEA DC winner Danya Sherman! Her company, KnoNap makes napkins that can test for rape drug presence in drinks. It is discreet, portable, gender-inclusive and sanitary. Once saturated, testing areas of the KnoNap will change color if drug presence is denoted, indicating to the user that their drink is not safe for consumption. Danya will advance to US Nationals taking place in February 2018 in Dallas, TX.

We would like to congratulate Andre Betram for winning the GSEA Competition in Toronto, Canada last week! His company, HelpWear, makes a a wearable heart monitor that can be applied by the patient, worn anywhere, and records heart activity 24/7. This device has the opportunity to revolutionize the way doctors monitor their patients. Andre will advance to the Canada Nationals taking place in January 2018 in Montreal to compete for a chance to represent Canada in the Global Finals.

Demonstrating a pure thirst for learning, Joseph has spent more than 3,000 hours researching how to make a superior fertilizer formula for optimizing growth, health and potency of plants. He advances to the US National competition in Feb 2018 to compete against 25+ other students for a chance to represent the US at the Global Finals.

Our 2017 US Nationals Winner, Matthew Rooda of SwineTech, has been named a finalist in the 2017 Collegiate Inventors Competition! He is one of 6 finalists competing in this competition which will take place in Alexandria, VA on November 3rd. Congratulations, Matthew!

Yesterday we kicked off our GSEA competition season in Austin, Texas with four inspiring student entrepreneurs. Our Winner was Eric Menees. His company, Hexis, creates emotion detection software for mobile and wearable devices. He will advance to our US National competition taking place in Dallas, Texas in February to compete against 25+ other students for a chance to represent USA at our Global Finals in Canada.

We would also like to thank Katherine Allen, our runner-up wit...h her company Flo Technologies (florecruit.com), Lauren Welch with Xelpha Health (xelphahealth.com) and last but not least, Tim Cole with Elite Sweets (Elite Sweets). These students have companies that look to simplify the recruiting/hiring process, bring digital medical record keeping to developing countries and work to bring a protein-packed, healthy solution to indulging one's sweet tooth.
