A Ravenna woman is facing three to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to embezzling money from an elderly Kent couple who used her accounting services.
Martha N. Powers, 52, of 820 Yorkshire Drive, was the victims' longtime accountant, Kent police said. She forged and cashed at least 14 checks on their accounts and pocketed the funds totaling more than $330,000, the investigation revealed.

KENT, Ohio– A Kent man was taken into custody Thursday morning after federal agents searched his home.
Steven A. Ciccone, 66, faces charges of distribution of child pornography and possession with intent to view child pornography. He appeared before a magistrate Thursday afternoon.
According to the FBI, agents served a search warrant at his house in Kent. The Crimes Against Children Task Force seized evidence before taking him into custody.
...His next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 9.

POLICE SHOOTING IN KENT, MAN DEAD AT SCENE
According to Kent Police, at 03:46 hours this morning, Kent Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from Shauna Yon of 626 Virginia Ave. in the City of Kent. Ms. Yon explained that her cousin, 25 year-old Douglas Yon, was creating a disturbance, refusing to leave the house and was armed with a machete. Officers responded to the scene as more information came in. Several family members and other subjects were reportedly inside the h...ome and were asked by Kent dispatchers to leave the house to get away from any threat.
Police say that as officers arrived on scene, they gathered information from Ms. Yon was that Douglas Yon intended to run at police officers and make them shoot him. At least four City of Kent police officers arrived on scene. The suspect allegedly engaged officers in the manner that he had reportedly said he would, running at them wielding a machete. When presented with the imminent deadly threat, officers fired shots at the suspect, stopping him from causing harm to themselves or others, ifficials reported. The Officers involved immediately radioed dispatch and advised shots were fired, and immediately requested an ambulance and paramedics to render first aid to the suspect, but the suspect was deceased at the scene.
The Portage County Sheriff’s s office was called to the scene and they are conducting an independent investigation of the incident as well as officers' response. The Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation is conducting their own investigation into the actual crime scene itself. The Portage County Prosecutor's Office and the Portage County Coroner’s Office are both involved, and they responded to the scene shortly after the incident occurred. Per our department policy, the officers involved in the shooting will be placed on Administrative Leave, pending an investigation.

PORTAGE COUNTY SHERIFF NEEDS HELP IDENTIFYING TWO SUSPECTS
RANDOLPH TWP.: Authorities are searching for two people who allegedly stole lottery tickets from a convenience store on Tuesday.
The couple, who are believed to have stolen from other convenience stores, entered the Circle K, 3966 Waterloo Road in Randolph Township in the early morning hours, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
...Authorities say the woman distracted the clerk while the man reached over the counter to steal lottery tickets.
The couple was seen leaving the area in a silver passenger car.
