An exceptional organization. I have had the opportunity to assist in a small way and it has been most rewarding.

Last weekend I had a dream ERSLA www.ersla.org come true. One inspiration for beginning the organization was to put a Hurst Tool (aka Jaws of Life) in Somoto where many accidents happen but they did not have the tool to save lives. they were dependent on calling the department in Condega for rescues. Finally, after three years, the tool has arrived. Thanks to Carsten Mööhr, a firefighter working with ERSLA and other organizations in the area and the ACCBVN (Volunteer Firefighters in Nicaragua), and many others, the Somoto firefighters now have the tool needed to save lives. Thanks to all that made this dream a reality. Thanks also to the Condega Bomberos for participating in the training.

The holiday season is upon us again and it may be time to think about how we can help those that are less fortunate than we are. If you are looking for a good cause to donate to, keep ERSLA in mind. Help us help others.

We at ERSLA wish you a very happy Thanks Giving holiday. May God shed the best of His blessings upon all of you and your loved ones. HAPPY THANKS GIVING!!

A lot of times, no matter how organized you may be, a plan just doesn't seem to come together. Well that wasn't the case with our BURN PREVENTION-FIRE SAFETY PROGRAM this year. We were able to meet our goal of 40 schools. Here are some pics at Escuela Los Cumiches, Union Europea and Escuela Emaus. The entusiasm expressed by the children is clearly visible.

As always we extend our gratitude to the the schools who participated and Benemerito as well as Direccion General for all their assistance. Without the participation of our firefighters, this program would not be possible.

And last, but certainly not least, a special thanks to all our donors and especially to THE KETTERING FOUNDATION and Ralph Ponfick for their generosity.

Well, As another year comes close to its end, ERSLA completes its goal of 40 schools which have received the BURN PREVENTION-FIRE SAFETY PROGRAM. We extend our sincerest appreciation to BENEMERITO CUERPO DE BOMBEROS DE ESTELI and DIRECCION GENERAL DE BOMBEROS SEBACO for their involvement in such a wonderful program. This is a unique program, the only one of its kind in the country. We hope to be able to extend our program to a wider area this next coming school year.

Congrats to TEAM ERSLA, iVANIA MIRAFLOR RODRIGUEZ and EGDA CAROLINA CASTILLO for their unending dedication and great work. Here are a few pics of the program.

Lastly, we'd like to thank all the schools which we attended for their cooperation and enthusiasm. We'll see you again next year!

ERSLA has completed half the schools this year. We still need funding. Donate at www.ERSLA.org

Team ERSLA is hard at work with their Burn Prevention Program. Our goal this year is to visit 40 schools and present our program. We have already met half that.

Here are some pics of our program in action at Escuela Padre Fabreto.

In an effort to expand our BURN PREVENTION PROGRAM, ERSLA was at 10 different schools in Sebaco: Rubén Darío,Xochil Acalt ,Colinas del Mitch,Agusto C.Sandino,Cándida Miranda,Ruben Baltodano,Tomas Borge,Río Nuevo #1 y #2
Colegio Bautista Fuente de Agua Viva. We were joined by the local firefighters in Sebaco, Bomberos:Rafael Meza,Lennin Ordóñez,Francisco Manzanares,Eleazar Aguinaga, who are actually the ones who impart the classes. Things could have not gone better!

We extend our gratitude to these firefighter as well as their Commander, Tirzo Corea, without whose cooperation, this would not be possible. And to Ivania Miraflor Rodriguez whose hard work in coordinating all these schools cannot be overlooked. Great job to you all!

Last week ERSLA and Benemerito Cuerpo de Bomberos de Esteli was at Escuela El Pricipito with our Burn Prevention Program. Aside from learning about preventing fires and how to respond in an emergency, the children establish a bond with our local firefighters, a bond that is not soon forgotten. They learn that our firefighters are our friends and in an emergency, a friend you can count on. Keep in mind that the Program is for a full week.

Congrats to David Jara Rizo for his excellent role and Egda Castillo, our coordinator for this school. Great job, to both of you. ERSLA extends it's gratitude to the director of El Pricipito for her cooperation. I can't close this until I give my most sincere gratitude to Ralph Ponfick, The Kettering Foundation and all our donors that make this possible. Ralph, you are the BEST!

Well, we kicked off our Burn Prevention Program for this year, 2017. Our goal this year is to present our program in 40 schools in Esteli as well as Sebaco and La Concordia. In this program we visit the schools accompanied by a member of the local firefighters, who is the one who imparts the class. The children are taught the dangers of fire and how to prevent them and in case of a fire, the proper response. The creation of a fire escape plan is only one of the tasks they are given. It's always great to see the exitement of the kids and the enthusiasm with witch they take what's learned in the class and pass it on to their family members.

In preperation for the start of our BURN PREVENTION PROGRAM this year, ERSLA conducted a workshop for the BENEMERITO CUERPO DE BOMBEROS, ESTELI and The DIRECCION GENERAL DE BOMBEROS DE SEBACO. In this manner assuring the best performance by all. We thank our local firefighters for their participation and enthusiastic effort and our congrats to team ERSLA for a job well done.

The weekend of the 24th of June, we were previleged to have The Nicaragua Missiom Group join us on the filter delivery in the community, el Pegador, Somoto. We thank Carmen an Raymond Covington and all the members of their churches for their generosity. Year after year, they support our program in a tremendous way. We could not do this without them. THANK YOU!!!

Gracias Comanndante, mejor hermano no pudimos encontrar.

I publish this post in Spanish 1st as I want to assure that our brother, Commander Marcio Roque of Benemerito Cuerpo de Bomberos, Esteli is able to read and understand this post.
We want him to know that the UNCONDITIONAL support he has bestowed upon ERSLA is appreciated from the heart. I have never heard a "no" from him. Every time that we have asked for his support, he has been there. And not only him, but his whole station supports ERSLA from the heart. I don't think that our Burn Prevention Program would be possible without Benemerito of Esteli and the Direccion de Bomberos, Sebaco, (another post that I will publish shortly). thank you Commander, a better brother we could not have found.

As Legal Representative for ERSLA, Katiana McDonald traveled to the ERSLA offices in Esteli, Nicaragua. Alot was accomplished on this trip. The bonds between the Firefighters of Nicaragua and ERSLA were strengthened. We would like to extend our appreciation to the Commander of The Asociación de Bomberos, Jaime Delgado for his unending support and will in working together to improve the conditions of the firefighters in this great country. Working together, we can accomplish great things.
