The Urban Gardeners built 18 planter boxes for two social housing sites in Vancouver. Not only did they enjoy a sunny day outdoors and a delicious potluck lunch, but they received great feedback from BC Housing on their garden bed building abilities! It's no wonder since this is the 3rd year we've partnered with the non-profit to bring more garden space to their residents. Thanks for a great job everyone!
Free bike tune-ups were very popular this year! The bike team estimates 40 riders stopped by for a range of services while stationed outside the Telus World of Science. There were lots of satisfied customers, including one who returned with ice cream for the team! Thanks for making riders' day a bit brighter - and safer - on EarthWork Day!
Thank you to these marine biologists who organized a #marchforscience in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It was one of over 600 marches, in all 7 continents, w...ith hundreds of thousands of participating. Thank you all! We are so inspired by everyone's creativity and passion for the movement. We MUST keep this going, and continue to stand up for science each and everyday in our communities. Together, we can do this!
Six SES folks helped a new non-profit Re/Purpose http://www.repurposecanada.org/ set up for their opening day! The team built a lighting cloud display for reclaimed chandeliers and light fixtures that will be showcased at the store's entrance. Its looks beautiful! Way to go team!
A team of 11 from Yardi assisted the Wild Bird Trust of Britsh Columbia's efforts to re-introduce the Anise Swallowtail butterfly to the Maplewood Flats in North Vancouver - an area once native to this butterfly. The team pulled troublesome blackberry bushes and replaced them with beneficial food plants for the butterfly. It's our 4th year working with the Maplewood Flats team and we're glad to help out with their activities!
The weather forecast is looking promising for EarthWork Day 2017! Our teams are looking forward to a great day of giving back to our community and having fun! There's still time to join if you're looking for a team!

Here's our Storify summary of EarthWork Day:
The Shoreline Cleanup team did a great job collecting waste around locations in Stanley Park and educating people on the issues of ocean and shoreline waste. Despite the rain, they persevered and collected 30 kg of garbage and 16 kg of broken glass. Thanks for keeping our beaches beautiful and our wildlife healthy!
