Cal “Silverfox” Lopez, born in Corpus Christi, Texas and now living in St. Ignace, Michigan was nominated for the 14th annual Native American Music Award (NAMA) by the NAMA board members February 12th, 2013. Silverfox a Native American Apache was nominated in the category of “Best Instrumental Recording” for his CD titled “TRIBAL FUSION”.
This is Silverfox first nomination. His CD Titled “TRIBAL FUSION” chosen for the NAMA award in the category of “Best Instrumental Recording” features Silverfox’s original flute playing sounds as well as the original background music written and generated by Jordan Wagenti of Ann Arbor, Michigan. This music is the culmination of their collaboration on the blending of ancient sounds with modern rendition of over forty songs.
The NAMA awards are selected by “people’s choice”. That is, by the public voting for their favorite performer. The public voting is invited to vote by logging in at www.nativeamericanmusicawards.com. After registration, go to the menu and select “vote now”. The survey includes all categories under consideration. The winners will be announced at the NAMA awards ceremony, at the Seneca Casino in Niagara Falls, New York, May 10th, 2013.
