2017 Old Business:
Website: It was recognized that the ECNA website was not an effective to communicate with members. The decision was made to eliminate web maintenance but maintain the domain name so we could redirect people to our Facebook page and gmail address. This was accomplished and we have a Facebook logo frequently posted as part of many of our posted messages. Also ECNA posts in a parallel manner to the social site “Nextdoor”.

Update on Oct. 7 Rover to Lomas Cleanup Project
Embudo Canyon Neighborhood Association wishes to thanks all those from our and adjacent neighborhood associations whose residents participated in our first official "adopt-a-highway" clean-up. Your neighbors worked very hard and collected 24 large bags of trash. Thank you Michael O. David Z., Cheryl S. Paul S. Jason L. Allyn H., Roger C, Virginia C, and Ray D. They amassed 24 large bags of trash!!!

We started at Rover, E side... of Tramway, and headed South. After 3 hours of labor, and only 10 of us, we didn't quite make it to Lomas. Clearly we needed more individuals to complete the East side goal.

We could 't help but noticing the abundant trash on the West side of Tramway. We would be interested in coordinating with all the neighborhood associations that border this stretch of Tramway and have teams at both Rover and Lomas heading toward each other. If anyone out there wants to help plan another clean-up in the first quarter of 2018 when it is cool, please contact me.

ECNA Adopt-a-Highway event coming Saturday Oct. 14. See details list in "Events" in the column on the left.

CPR training-an ECNA & Project Heart Start event is big success!!
Seventeen of your neighbors took a bit over an hour to learn compression-only CPR, reviewed and practiced the Heimlich maneuver, and used a demo AED device (Automated External Defibrillator) you see all over but have never opened. Richard, a volunteer from Project Heart Start (a NM Heart Institute Foundation program) and ECNA sponsored this event. Thank you to Richard and our sponsors. Thanks to the JT library staff, too.
All agreed it was well worth the time. Most of us had never seen the contents of an AED device and are now much more comfortable having this review in the event we ever have to use one.
Here are your neighbors practicing the Heimlich maneuver, and using the AED device and exchanging efforts with a partner saving the dummy. Thank you all from attending!

Recent CPR class learn revised compression rate, how to use a AED device and practice how to save a choking person.

Reminder-The FREE CPR is tomorrow, Sat. OCT 7, 12:30PM. Teaching 'compression only' revised method. Takes only 1 hr of you time to perhaps save a life of you loved one. You don't have to be a member of ECNA to attended. We have room for about 20 "walk-ins" (not preregistered). See you there!

Embudo Canyon Neighborhood Association is proud to announce our new BABY! She’s exceedingly long, hardy but subject to seasonal changes. Our new baby is from the “Adopt-a-Highway” program and stretches from Lomas to Rover! Our first community service clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, OCT.14 with a meet-up at Rover and Tramway at 8:30AM. We will scour the East side of Tramway, staying well off the asphalt roadway. This is a nice opportunity for a family community servic...e event but participants MUST BE 12 or over AND, FOR CHILDREN UP TO 17, HAVE A DESIGNATED ADULT SUPERVISOR. We need you to RSVP within this website EVENT for each person in your group who will participate by Sept 29th. This is so WE can pick up the needed SAFETY VESTS AND TRASH BAGS for your use. You should bring your own GLOVES and sunhat. We will have water bottles for you at the start point. You may want to bring a fanny pack for the water, a lightweight bucket for trash is helpful and you can get cheap trash picker-uppers at Harbor Freight if you don’t want to stoop frequently. All neighborhoods adjacent to this stretch of Tramway are invited to participate. If we have a huge turnout, we can do both sides of Tramway (BUT NOT THE MEDIAN!!!!!!) IF we have only have enough folks for the East Side, in six months we will have another service day and do the other side of Tramway.
