Experts Exchange must stop the shady practice of refusing to refund people's money when their subscr...iption auto-renews without their knowledge. Unless the sign-up procedure explicitly informs the subscriber that you need to cancel the service before the trial period ends, it's ILLEGAL to have their subscription to automatically start and to make them pay. You cannot just write a simple paragraph in the boilerplate agreement that you need to cancel during the trial period. The subscriber must be clearly notified or it isn't a freely negotiated contract.
Even if the subscriber was notified during the initial sign-up (so their policy might not be illegal), it's extremely immoral. When the subscriber clearly did not intend to renew (by showing that they didn't use the service at all), a refund should be immediately given. The only purpose of an auto-renewal clause in a contract is to make life easier for the customers who want to continue the service and don't want to go through the hassle of re-entering their personal information, credit card info, etc. The purpose of auto-renewal is definitely not to trap people who forget to cancel!
Moreover, their policy on this issue sets the wrong tone for this website. The policy suggests that this company can't be trusted. It also suggests that their website is not making enough money so they need to resort to shady practices to stay afloat. See More

Twice I've had very negative experiences with Experts Exchange due to their business practices. Each... time I felt they stole from me. The first time I knew I was a member. The second time I did not.
Each time they told me they have a STRICT policy of no refunds.
Although you may get great support from the many Experts Exchange users, keep your hand on your wallet and know what you are signing up for. See More

Beware of company's rogue trading policies.
When I called to cancel the subscription down a couple ...of years ago as I wasn't ever getting solutions to my questions, I was offered a special half price discount for 2 years to continue. Now they have collected a full subscription value as auto renewal which is actually 50% higher than even their current rack rate as confirmed by the call attendant. They wouldn't refund the subscription although I called as soon as I noticed the charge (i.e within 3 working days of hitting my credit card) Auto renewal was not discussed as non refundable at the time when I had initially called to cancel 2 years ago as they had actually refunded the payment taken at the time of that call and then charged the new lower rate.
These are rogue trading standards based on misrepresentation and deception.
The service is a bit of a joke to begin with. The admins keep closing questions down even if there are no solutions. See More
