Did you know that not all rain drops are made of water?

On Saturn's moon, Titan, rain is made of methane. And on Venus, rain falls as sulfuric acid!

Fortunately for life on Earth, rain on our planet is mostly water.

Did you know that female lions (lionesses) do most of the hunting for a lion pride?

A typical lion pride consists of 5 or 6 lionesses, their cubs, and 1 or 2 male lions.

Did you know that spiders are not insects?

Spiders and insects are both arthropods (invertebrates that have jointed legs), but that is where the similarities end.
- Insects are a class of arthropods that have 3 pairs of legs, 3 body segments and a pair of antennae on the head.
- Spiders (and mites) belong to a class of arthropods called the arachnids. Arachnids have 4 pairs of legs, only 2 body segments and no antennae.

...

Another difference is that almost all insects have wings, while arachnids do not have wings... but that doesn't stop spiders from dropping out of the sky!

Did you know that Cougars (Puma concolor) have the largest distribution of any large, land-dwelling animal in the Western hemisphere?
In fact, this cougar could have been photographed anywhere from the Yukon all the way down to the tip of South America!

The genus, Puma, is the Mayan word for this majestic cat.
