Shoutout to Adelaine who is one of the founders and really 'Fab' and passionate
I wish to come back again.
It’s Singapore Design Week 2018 and suddenly ‘Design’ has strangely disappeared from the face of the earth. To solve this mystery, we’ve gathered the finest minds in the field to investigate and diagnose this abnormality. Join us and a curious room of people (who on normal days, dissect, create, thinking, tinker with rockets, robots, food, fashion, furniture, structures, web apps, and other things in between), as we find ourselves lost and wondering what to do without it. It’...s going to be a fun, hilarious ride as we try our best (and fail) to avoid using ‘Design’ in our discussion.
Stick around for the after party with drinks, people, and plenty of hands on opportunity to explore some of the made objects and tools, and discover for yourself this dangerous, delirious mystery.
Featuring serious folks who dissect, create, think, and tinker with:
Rockets (Bradley Camburn, Gilmour Space Technologies)
Web apps (Thomas Gorissen)
AR (Sanjay Pushparajan, Space Age by Outpost.social)
Fashion (Dinu Bodiciu)
Furnitures (Modu Designers)
Brand (Grace Italiaander, Cowan)
Structures, and more (AskTony SG)
7.30pm - 8pm: Hello and Welcome Drinks
8pm - 8.45pm: Panel Discussion
8.45pm - 9.15pm: Lightning Talks
9.15pm - 10.15pm: Demos and Drinks
Thank you all for joining us in our FabWorkshops. We've just concluded our March hols "street style" workshops, and thought we'd highlight a few of the fabulous attitudes our FabKids have taught us.
In the 3D drawing workshop, participants were guided to draw a 3D ladder on a flat piece of paper. Carefully drawing each line with precision, participants would sometimes take a step back and re-draw the lines to enhance the 3D effect of their drawings. Their dedic...ation reminded us that with effort and patience, we can achieve greater goals.
Definitely street worthy.
Some of our participants managed to witness how the stencils were laser-cut at our Fabrication corner, before they get hands-on to create their stencil art. Using various layers of stencils, our participants designed underwater world, jurassic park, zoo, unicorns and rainbows. Sometimes the best creations are pursued when we let loose and enjoy the moment to be imaginative.
Street Cred: +100
Beyond the fun of creating a mosaic art, participants put their patience to test as they pieced together the tiny acrylic tiles using a tweezer. Along the way, some accidentally messed up their mosaic art and it was painful to witness their disappointment. But at the end of the day, every participant proudly presented their completed mosaic art coasters. As one participant exclaimed, "Look! I did it all by myself!"
We are truly impressed by your determination and creativity that razzled and dazzled us during our FabWorkshops. Thank you, all bringing your fabulous personalities to the cafe and making this Fab Street Friday an enjoyable day!
