Earlier this week, Tropical Cyclone Gita made landfall on the island of Tonga, causing widespread destruction and loss of power. People are already coming together on Facebook to support each other through our crisis response tools, including fundraisers and Community Help. To build on the community's efforts, Facebook is helping to support people affected by Cyclone Gita by matching up to $200,000 in donations made to GlobalGiving to support relief efforts for the cyclone. All donations made on the Cyclone Gita crisis page or through the Donate Button on the top of your Newsfeed are eligible.
Our thoughts are with all of those impacted by Cyclone Gita. You can check in on loved ones in the affected area by the Facebook Safety Check that has activated in relation to the cyclone: http://www.facebook.com/crisisresponse/tropical-cyclone-gita-in-tonga-feb11-2018/ #CycloneGita
