I was at fashion island for the OC half marathon . This was the first time I've ran this course and it was amazingly spectacular. I would do it again!! Haha...... considering the crazy weather we had at starting time, pouring rain and hail, that still wouldn't change my mind. Thank you to all the wonderful spectators, and of course the residents of the city for supporting, providing , and cheering us on. You guys are as crazy as the runners for being out there too!!! LOL!!🌧
Thank you...lets do this again next year !!

RIP Derek Parfit, 12/11/1942 – 1/1/2017, brilliant British philosopher who specialized in problems of personal identity, rationality, ethics, and the relations ...among them. Read this passage from his 2011 book On What Matters:

"One thing that greatly matters is the failure of we rich people to prevent, as we so easily could, much of the suffering and many of the early deaths of the poorest people in the world. The money that we spend on an evening’s entertainment might instead save some poor person from death, blindness, or chronic and severe pain. If we believe that, in our treatment of these poorest people, we are not acting wrongly, we are like those who believed that they were justified in having slaves. Some of us ask how much of our wealth we rich people ought to give to these poorest people. But that question wrongly assumes that our wealth is ours to give. This wealth is legally ours. But these poorest people have much stronger moral claims to some of this wealth. We ought to transfer to these people, in ways that I mention in a note, at least ten per cent of what we earn. What now matters most is how we respond to various risks to the survival of humanity. We are creating some of these risks, and discovering how we could respond to these and other risks. If we reduce these risks, and humanity survives the next few centuries, our descendants or successors could end these risks by spreading through this galaxy. Life can be wonderful as well as terrible, and we shall increasingly have the power to make life good. Since human history may be only just beginning, we can expect that future humans, or supra-humans, may achieve some great goods that we cannot now even imagine. In Nietzsche’s words, there has never been such a new dawn and clear horizon, and such an open sea. If we are the only rational beings in the Universe, as some recent evidence suggests, it matters even more whether we shall have descendants or successors during the billions of years in which that would be possible. Some of our successors might live lives and create worlds that, though failing to justify past suffering, would give us all, including some of those who have suffered, reasons to be glad that the Universe exists."

Had an interesting lunch at Le Pain Quotien, across from Macy's. Also a yummy latte. Good bargains at Macy's this week. Fashion Island is a fun place to shop and people watch when the weather is favorable. But I didn't see anyplace to grab just a quick bite, or yummy dessert.

This is easily one of my favorite places to go to for shopping and dining. It has plenty of spaces for parking, outdoor strolling for gorgeous days by the beach..., and all our favorite shops from Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, anthropologie, lululemon, and many more. CPk, Cheesecake Factory and fine restaurants galore! There's something for everyone with spectacular views:-) See More

This is the best place for outdoor shopping! There are plenty of boutique selections and open spaces. I love the idea that there are pocket gardens and comforta...ble seats wherever you go. Also, dining experience is a must! Me and my husband tried fig and olive for lunch and Red O a mexican restaurant for dinner. LOL we did not mind the time we spent around the area. BEST WEEKEND EVER! Great place to walk -or sit around in any of the 100 or so chairs scattered around this open market shopping center. I love to sit near the koi pond and people watch while I eat lunch...
