He was probably joking, but I'm going to pretend that he wasn't.
Has anyone been watching The Big Painting Challenge on BBC1? This week one of their challenges was to paint a self-portrait from life in just 4 hours - so I thought I would do the same!
This is the first painting I've EVER done from life. It was also really interesting to limit myself to just 4 hours, this whole new style came out - I'm actually much happier with this than I have been with paintings that took 5 times as long! Great learning experience.

This is a painting I had started and stopped over TWO YEARS AGO... - I finally got around to picking it up again in the last couple of days (a testament to the current comparative chill of my life situation).
The top photo is where I left it all those years ago, and the bottom is how it's looking at the moment.
It is a beast of a canvas, basically life size. Georgia dreaming away of being a mermaid under the sea. This is is closer to the kind of thin...gs I want to be painting more often - figurative with a surreal/fantasy atmosphere.
Will upload photos and video when it's finally finished, but that may be another two years from now...
I will be doing a live painting set in Hobbycraft, Hereford, on Saturday 22nd Feb. (Srsly).
Perfect stalking opp for my die hard admirers.
