A fantastic article on how our crews got on at Castleconnell last Saturday. Today the club has crews taking part in a 25km row from Youghal to Cappoquin.

Tomorrow all club members are to assemble at the Rowing club at 11am for the Flip test.

Well done to Castleconnell Boat Club on running a fantastic event yesterday. Thank you to James O'Sullivan for towing the trailer and to the coaches for travelling with their crews. Fantastic racing by all especially our new J 14's who attended their first event

Notice of 2017 Annual General Meeting of Fermoy Rowing Club:

I hereby provide notice that the A G M of Fermoy Rowing Club will be held on Friday 13th October at 8.00pm in FRC Clubhouse, Barnane Walk, Fermoy, Co Cork.
Relevant reports will be issued at the meeting.
In accordance with the constitution of the club the following stipulations and deadlines apply:...
(6) (a) The General Committee and Officers shall be elected by ballot each year at the Annual General Meeting, to be held not later than the 31st of October, 20 voting members to form a quorum. The Committee shall have power to fill by co-option any vacancy that may occur in the General Committee or in any of the sub committees appointed by the Committee.

(b) Only Ordinary Members (Category A) plus Officers of the Club shall have the right to;
• Nominate or second nomination of candidates of election for officership or committee.
• Propose or second notices of motion.
• Become an Officer of the Club or a member of the General Committee or Trustee.
(c) When electing members of the General Committee, all members voting shall Vote for the full member for which there are vacancies. Voting papers containing A lesser number of votes that there are vacancies shall be invalid
(d) A record of attendance of Members of the General Committee Meetings shall be kept and read at the Annual General Meeting Prior to the election of Officers and Other Committee Members
(e) Nominations for the position of Officers of the Club or as a member of the General Committee must be made in writing, duly signed by the proposer and Seconder And shall be handed or posted or e-mailed to the Hon. Secretary at least 7 days before the date of The Annual General Meeting or entered on a sheet which shall be posted on the Club Notice Board 7 days before the A.G.M. the Nomination papers shall be duly posted on The Notice Board in the Clubhouse by the Hon. Secretary
(f) The honorary secretary and the honorary treasurer or member of the General Committee who has not attended one-third of the meetings summoned during the year shall be ineligible for re-election for the year following except when illness or enforced absence is responsible for such non-attendance

Paul O' Donovan & Denise Walsh have both qualified for the A Finals at the World Rowing Championships!
Within the past hour Paul O' Donovan comfortably saw off ...the opposition in the A/B Semifinal of the lightweight men's single sculls once again crossing the line in 1st place, while Denise Walsh followed shortly afterwards with an excellent performance in the lightweight women's single sculls Semifinal, also winning her race in style.

What a day we have in store tomorrow! THREE crews competing in A Finals:
LM2- (Shane O' Driscoll/Mark O' Donovan) 17:00
LM1x (Paul O' Donovan) 17:15
LW1x (Denise Walsh) 17:30

Sanita Puspure also has a massive race: the women's single sculls A/B Semifinal at 16:15, and the M2- (Patrick Boomer/Fionnan McQuillan-Tolan) race the C Final at 18:50.

Great article in last weeks Sunday Times about the 2 lads and their life as they clawed their way into the world beaters they are now -from grotty flats to being penniless and having to stay at the NRC because they were constantly on the water training and funds were short
