I was treated with an aggressive course of Remdesavir and other medications. After five long, isolating days, I was thankfully able to go home. The new treatments that have emerged since the early days of #coronavirus should give us faith in the face of fear. We learn more about this disease every day, and treatments have become much more effective in saving lives.

I owe a debt of gratitude to the hard-working doctors, nurses and staff at NCH Baker Hospital who treated me, took such good care of me, and got me well.

I hope my experience can be a teachable moment. I have emerged on the other side intimately familiar with coronavirus itself, and with a profound appreciation for the fact that if it can happen to me to the extent that it did, it can happen to anyone. I caution against being swept up in fear, and urge empathy toward others, most of whom are trying their best in a difficult time. But please take coronavirus seriously, take personal responsibility, look out for your friends, family and fellow Americans, and follow your local guidelines for how best to prevent the spread of this disease.

I am grateful for my health today. We can get through this together.
