It was extremely disappointing to see people climbing our Christmas tree in Marconi Plaza on Eagles parade day. It was completely irresponsible to climb a tree that cannot support the weight of people on its branches and, parents, you should be ashamed of yourself for encouraging your children to do this. We had a wonderful Christmas celebration in December with this tree and we hope that the neighborhood appreciates our efforts to promote a warm community spirit.

Hello Park Friends!
We wanted to share the exciting news that the registration for Tree Philly's Fall Yard Tree Giveaways is now open! This fall there are four chances for you to get a tree to plant in your yard. You can choose from 13 different trees, and at each event you will learn how to plant and care for your new tree. FYI - yard trees must be planted in the ground in the city of Philadelphia on private property, not in a pot, or in the sidewalk.
Please see the attache...d flier, check it out and feel free to spread the word to your networks! The link to register, and the list of community grantees can be found here - http://treephilly.org/registration-open-fall-2017-yard-tre…/
Happy tree planting!

Our friends at Amadee Bregy Elementary School are hosting a Walk-a-thon on October 30. They are raising money to send to the Red Cross to aid the hurricane relief efforts in Florida, Texas and Puerto Rico. They are having a pep rally on October 16 which includes prizes and they have received much support from local businesses. Please join in and support their efforts.
If you are driving to the Columbus Day parade in Marconi area, please be mindful that because of a home Eagles game at 1 pm anyone without a parking pass will be ticketed and/or towed. Area involved is Broad St. to 7th and Oregon to Pollock.
Since Summer 2017 has drawn to a close, the Friends of Marconi Plaza thank our friends at Sports Complex Special Service District for sponsoring our summer events, namely, our movie night and summer concert. We sincerely appreciate your financial support. We thank you also for the beautification of the corners at Broad and Bigler Streets, as we continually receive many compliments about them.
We Walk PHL is a free walking group that meets several times per week at several of Philly Parks. Philadelphia Parks and Recreation staff lead the walking groups with support from community walking group leaders, following training via the Arthritis Foundation Walk With Ease Program. This is a cooperative effort of Fairmount Park Conservancy, PPR, Philly Powered and Health Promotion Council.
Marconi Plaza has been selected to see if there is interest in our area for such a group. Please send email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
