- I am still an addict Over the years I have dialed in what fuels my ...mental & physical strength. Repairing my gut & cognitive function from years of drug abuse, head trauma, eating disorders & unhealthy habits. My addiction became striving towards a "visual" perfection. I must live & "look" the part. Who am I to lead others to optimize their lives with balance when I'm nothing but this dark little girl with a dirty past? ......this was my inner monologue for years. It often still creeps in.... I still have an unhealthy attachment to food. Don't get me wrong, I eat extremely clean. But, I worry about having the right food, having enough food, what my head & body will feel like if I indulge, where it comes from. What seemingly appears to be healthy habits & behaviors has turned into neurotic obsession. I use food. Just as I've used drugs, as I've used men, as I've used training. Its my reward, punishment, companion, comfort, safety net. Something has to give & it will not be my sanity or my spirit. As I work on breathing, balance & new ways of living.....it's time to try something new. Juicing has never called to me. Fear of the unknown? Time to jump into the fear and put my fork down.
