Very excited for the 100x100m relay launch on 7th April with City Of Sheffield Swim Squad. The WORLD RECORD was set back in 2014 (I was there!) in Ponds Forge International Sports Centre at the incredible SWIM FOR LEUKAEMIA event. A shade under 1.5 hours. See records below... What can they do? Predictions anyone?

UPDATE! Getting a LOT of messages about our 100x100m relay challenge - which is fantastic! Thanks for your support everyone. This national challenge is part of the We Remember Them 1918-2018 fundraising campaign - raising money for the Royal British Legion and HorseBack UK.
Few of your questions answered...
Q. Do all the swimmers in a relay team have to be from the same club?...
A. No, swimmers can be from one or more clubs - past or present, young or old(er)! But you need 100 swimmers.
Q. Where and when is the national final?
A. Currently the final is scheduled for 8th September at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre (a huge THANK YOU to them for their kind support). We're hoping the final will include a combined services relay team of Army, Navy and RAF swimmers. We have lots of creative ideas for the day - like decorating the pool with underwater poppies in keeping with the occasion. Prizes will include a photoshoot at your club with GBSWIMSTARS.
Q. Does it cost anything to enter the challenge?
A. We're asking for a donation of £10 or more per swimmer to the Royal British Legion and HorsebackUK - details of how this will be collected to follow.
Q. What are the rules for the relay?
A. Rules will be announced soon, but we want to make it fair, fun and inclusive. We also want to allow for different length pools etc. We expect clubs will allocate one lane for the relay during a morning or evening training session and organise their swimmers as they need them.
Q. Where will our relay time be posted?
A. Relay times will go on a NATIONAL LEADER BOARD on the WEREMEMBERTHEM.ORG.UK website as they come in.
Q. When does the relay challenge launch officially?
A. In April. City Of Sheffield Swim Squad are going to do the first relay and set a time to beat, with GBSWIMSTARS in attendance with camera and video!
Q. Are you going to need help with this?
A. Absolutely!!! We're a small team of volunteers (sound familiar?!) so any help, suggestions or contacts gladly received - please DM me. And please spread the word about the relay. We need as many clubs as possible to take part.
We think this is a wonderful way for the swimming community to show their support for our past and present serving men and women... And have a bit of fun at the same time!
Thanks again for your support, more news soon.

GOOD LUCK all the swimmers at the EISM and British Swimming Champs 2018 this week. Enjoying watching it on the live feed. As always, FABULOUS commentary from Bob and Rebecca.
On 11th November something very special is going to happen in Derwentwater, called: SWIM TO REMEMBER. At 11am 111 of us (mad swimmers!) are going to wade into the lake and swim 1km around the island to commemorate exactly 100 years since the end of WW1. All the swimmers will be wearing special poppy swim caps; so we're hoping to get amazing and very poignant drone/other photos of the event (and get some of the local media there). As we swim a bugler will play and we'll be say...ing some prayers out of respect to the injured/fallen. The whole event is part of the WE REMEMBER THEM 1918-2018 campaign to raise money for the Royal British Legion and HorseBack UK
It's being organised by the wonderful Swim on the Wild Side. We are very grateful to them - and everyone else who have volunteered to bring this special event to life (including the lovely ferry people who are delaying their launch so we can get into the water!).
But... WE NEED A FEW MORE SAFETY KAYAKERS! Could you help us - or do you know someone who could?! Please send me a DM if you can and share this post.
And if you'd like to join us for the swim please keep an eye on our website: www.werememberthem.org.uk
