Stuck at home all day? This list of active indoor activities are filled with fun gross motor skills. Perfect for winter snow days, or spring rainy days!
•Ping Pong Ball Catch
-plastic red solo cups...
-ping pong balls(or any small object that will fit in the cup)
Have your child/children toss the ball to a partner and try and catch it in the cup. Start out close together and then keep taking a step backwards to make it more challenging. For a single player, they can simply throw the ball in the air and try to catch it in the cup.
•Lego Color Hunt
-4 pieces of colored construction paper
-5 to 10 pieces of legos in each color
Hide all the Lego pieces in one room/area of your house and lay out the colored paper on a table or the floor. Start a timer and have your child start hunting. Once they found a lego, they need to return it to the piece of paper that matches in color. Re hide the Lego pieces so they can try and get a lower time. Once they’ve had enough of the game, challenge them to make a rainbow out of the lego pieces.
Stand face to face with your child, about a foot apart, and have them attempt to copy all your movements (reach up and stretch to the sky, do 10 jumping jacks, act like a monkey) Make it fun and you’ll both be working up a sweat in no time. Then switch roles and copy your child.
