I decided to join Girl Scouts with my daughter as a bonding experience. I bit off more than I could chew. I tried to make our meetings fun but unfortunately you can't make all mom's happy. I was be...littled, yelled at, and cursed at. I finally decided to throw in the towel after a year. I feel like Girl Scouts should back up their leaders when complaints like this come in. There is probably a leader shortage because of disrespectful parents. Because of this experience and how my daughter saw parents talk towards me she begged to quit. See More

Continually impressed with this organization at the council, service unit and troop leader levels. Decided to lead a troop myself due to my daughters' excellent experience with Girl Scouts! There are ...SO many activities to choose from, we could be doing GS outings every week if we chose! This will be my 3rd year coordinating cookies and the program to help run that is excellent - makes it easy to keep track of multiple girls' sales. And troop activity is totally customizable to whatever the girls (and parents, if they are young) choose... keep up the good work! Thank you! See More

I love the girl scouts, but am deeply upset that Maddy Porter and Heidi Seivers have been so suddenly dismissed from service. Troop 176 has been incredible for each and every member due to Maddy and H...eidi's leadership.

They have taught my daughter confidence, poise, and integrity and for that I am forever grateful.

For Maddy to be dismissed without just cause after 15+ years of service is egregious. I implore council to reconsider and to allow them to continue to guide our future leaders.

I am a Brownie co leader and I can tell you, we are having trouble getting our girls into troops. We have a leader shortage. If you are waiting for your daughter to placed, please call and volunteer. ...It is the quickest way to get her in a troop. I know our representative in charge of recruiting and placing girl struggles with having the adult volunteers. Dads are welcomed also. Even if you can not be the leader ask to be a co leader or even a rotating one. A rotating leader might take every other week to lead. You can be an example to your daughter and help shape her future as well as other girls. See More

Very disappointed in how this program is being run. Troops came into my daughters school in September/October and talked about great the Girl Scouts are. Of course my 5 year old was so excited. I prom...ptly signed her up. Here we are in February and she still has not been assigned a troop. If there is a troop leader shortage, you should NOT have been coming into to schools to talk to the girls. Or only talked the the grade levels where you were accepting new girls into troops. That is creating a false hope and I don't feel like that those are values that you have in your description, "Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee prepares girls for their future by educating them in the areas of leadership, STEM, healthy living, financial literacy and the arts. Join us as we continue Juliette Low’s mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place." I have tried contacting multiple people and either the mailboxes are full or they are rude. My 5 year is old is constantly asking when she gets to join the Girl Scouts and I have to keep explaining to her that I don't know. That isn't fair to her or me because there was poor planning on your part. See More

Hi, I signed up my daughter for Girl Scout in mid September. It's now the end of the year and we have not heard anything from no troop leader in Lawrence County what so ever, after many attempts and f...ollowing up to see what's going on. My daughter was so thrilled to join but now it's been nothing but a huge disappointment and honestly we have lost interest in the program. We have family member in Florida who have been in Girl Scouts since they were allowed to. I've heard wonderful things from them girls but honestly, the program in Lawrenceburg is nothing but a disappointment. Thanks Girl Scout, for taking our money and not following through biggest disappointment! See More

I am very disappoint with the organization of the Girl Scouts. I registered my daughter online during the summer, and still 3 months later haven't a thing from anyone. I understand that Girl Scouts ...don't get in full swing until school gets started but still a little communication would be nice! I've reached out to Tranay who is over my area on three separate occasions, left three voicemails and still I haven't hear one single word from anyone. Very sad to have to tell my daughter that she can't participate because no one will return a phone call! See More

I'm a year 12 Gs and I will be a camp counselor next summer and a leader after I bridge from ambassador to adult . Girl Scouts is my life and camp is my home away from home . I really feel like Girl S...couts has changed through the years and so have I . I've gone from a girl who was a little scared to try new things and meet new people and now I can't keep myself away from camp and trying new things . If your looking for a new life time love for your girls this is defiantly the one , I was never into too many athletics and girls scouts was a fantastic alternative . See More

Very displeased with the way Girl Scouts has became now a days. I try to get my five-year-old put in the Girl Scouts. First it's hard for me to get the paper sent home which that was an issue with mis...communication at the school. Then when I finally am able to speak to someone to tell me how to go about getting her enrolled into a troop I am told that pretty much unless I am willing to run a troop myself then she can't be in one because there isn't one for her to be in. That I would also be required to buy a book that would tell me the things that I needed to do to be a leader that I would also be in charge of finding where to hold these meetings and pretty much every single detail all by myself completely new to a situation and .....that they (Girl Scout leaders) had went into a school here local and had two mothers agree to be leaders both mothers walked out with being assigned 25 girls apiece. That's insane. So when I went to find out if there was a troop that my daughter could just join without me I was told that there is 30,000 girls nationwide that are on waiting list to be a Girl Scout and pretty much that I would only be able to have her be a Girl Scout if I was willing to participate that was the second time I was pretty much told I had to do it too if I wanted her to be a part of it. So when I asked them if they had incentives that they give out for their volunteers since this is ran by the parents....is there not something that they give out perhaps discounts on camps or uniforms or supplies the answer was no. So you're telling me that you expect people to devote their own time their own money and everything else to help A group of children experience something under the Girl Scout name without any incentive for assistance to be able to do that. I'm going to tell you just like I told the other Girl Scout Facebook page......This is just my opinion but I work for a hospital here in Tennessee that has one of the largest volunteer organizations under its belt. Why do those people keep coming back?... Because there are incentives. When I posted about this on my Facebook page I was saddened to see so many other mothers had had horrible experiences with Girl Scouts the way it is today. I loved girl scouts what I was a child. But apparently being a Girl Scout is not going to be a tradition that is carried on with my children and that is sad shame on you Girl Scouts. See More

my daughter is *STILL* apart of girl scout for now, however after MULTIPLE MULTIPLE attempts at addressing problems with our leader and now I've asked MULTIPLE times to either become a leader or find ...my daughter another troop that likes their girls to attend meetings by talking to them & I've gotten ZERO response and my daughter is left out of several patch receiving activities because it seems her leader doesn't want her there but communicates with everyone else. its RIDICULOUS my daughters feelings get hurt when she is the ONLY ONE not presented with a patch because leaders don't want to answer her parents calls or texts. very disappointing and defiantly not representing what they are supposed to be teaching!
