- Back in November 1995, I worked in marketing for Musicland, and afte...r recently moving to Minneapolis I was invited to come see this 'new band' at the 7th Street Entry. I crammed into this tiny venue with a few dozen other folks, only to be absolutely BLOWN AWAY by Garbage. Soon after I began running a local independent CD chain, where my trusted Universal rep Scott Ross helped me find different ways to promote this great band, and together we had SO many great moments with Garbage. Scott and I are both out of the music business now, and we both have beautiful daughters who were too young to participate in the amazing rise of Garbage, but not surprisingly they LOVE the band and the music. TEN YEARS after we both left the music business, Scott and I will be bringing our daughters to Skyway to finally share in the wonderful culmination of 20 years of Garbage. Duke, Steve, Butch and Shirley, thank you so much for your awesomeness! See More

Free Design are yet another great vocal band from the 60s I only discovered in the last few years. Their harmonies and vocal arrangements are often more adventurous than most. In their case, what comes across as rather ‘light’ fare is actually quite substantive when it comes to the ideas therein. The higher harmonies on “Blackout” and "Night Drive Loneliness" may have been inspired by them….a little bit….
