The reality of giraffe conservation in some parts of Africa: de-snaring a giraffe with Uganda Wildlife Authority at Murchison Falls National Park. Giraffe are not targeted by the poachers - they are collateral damage. But what difference does it make?

Meet GCF's East Africa Coordinator Arthur Muneza. A true advocate for giraffe conservation.

“In Africa we have rapid decline of wildlife numbers, we have poaching going on, we are losing wildlife. But everyone wants to be a doctor, lawyer or engineer,” says Arthur Muneza, a Scholar at Michigan State University “I will be an advocate for giraffe conservation."

Arthur Muneza, 27, was five when his family fled their home in Kigali, Rwanda, to escape fighting and gunshots on the streets.

GCF works with partners around the world to save giraffe and learn more about these amazing animals. We are providing field support to a team from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo who want to learn more about giraffe feet in the wild in order to improve the health of captive giraffe. Giraffe helping giraffe works both ways!
