The Lightning Studio project, Veterans of the Summit, keeps moving forward. Our students continue to hold interviews and collect some amazing stories of service.
After today, the Veterans of the Summit project has amassed 19 personal conversations with 19 veterans from WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam. Involving 17 peop...le from either Lightning Studio, SAAC, or GBC Lit. With the help of the Summit’s activities directors Scott & Maureen, that brings the total number of people involved in this project to 38, so far. We still have a number of veterans to meet over the next few weeks so if you’d like to be involved, let us know! We usually visit the Summit Retirement Community on Friday mornings! #veteransofthesummit #storiesofservice #veterans #stories #service #delaware @ The Summit Retirement Community

"In the 8th grade I lost my Aunt. She was shot in Puerto Rico and it’s still a cold case, they don’t know who did it, a...nd at the same time my parents we’re getting divorced. So music was that kind of back comfort. I’d lock myself in my room for hours upon hours just playing music, learning new things, writing my own music, writing my own songs on the piano, just turning all that emotion and energy into something that I liked. It was always a constant comfort. Even after my aunt’s funeral, after everything was done, it was a way to put all my energy into. On top of working, it’s just my stress relief now. Everything, all the emotions I have, get thrown into music.
Music has always been that constant reassurance and something that helps you when you go numb, that constant friendly reminder that it’s there no matter what."
