New Mexico’s health care workers are counting on us to protect them. We all know someone who is on the frontlines of this pandemic: a nurse, a doctor, a tech, a custodial staff member. They need us to keep them safe by staying home and slowing the spread of COVID-19. Please do your part.

Today's #COVID19 update:

While the winter storm has limited some testing, resulting in lower case numbers, it has not limited the virus.

Today's high positivity rate is a clear indicator that the virus continues to be rampant. COVID-19 hospitalizations have hit a record high for the fifth day in a row.

…

- 590 new cases, totaling 43,169 cases statewide
- Four additional deaths, totaling 980 deaths statewide
- 307 individuals currently hospitalized with COVID-19 – yet another record high
- 13.1% daily positivity rate

If I sound like a broken record, it's because the science is clear on what we need to do to protect the health and safety of the public: stay home, wear your mask, avoid gathering with others. Lives and livelihoods depend on it.

Listen to the experts: if New Mexicans do not stay home and limit their interactions with others to slow the spread of COVID-19, our hospitals will be overrun.

"If you got in a car wreck, there would be no place to go. If you need to deliver a baby, there may not be a bed in a hospital for you. If it continues at this current velocity, with no rollover, with no coming back down, it's hard to describe how catastrophic that is."

Please stay home and wear your mask if you must go out. We all have to do everything we can to slow the spread of this terrible virus.
