Today I sent a letter to Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke urging no changes be made to the designation of the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument.

The Missouri River Breaks offers world-class, once-in-a-lifetime public lands and hunting opportunities and attracts over 130,000 visitors per year, providing $10 million to the local economy. This morning the Senate GOP released their latest health care bill and it's exactly what's wrong with Washington DC.

Drafted in secret without bipartisan support or public input, this bill will threaten the health of hard-working Montana families in order to cut taxes for the wealthy. Forcing a dangerous and costly health care bill like this one onto Americans isn't making our health care system better - it's hurting those who need it most.

As a father and as governor, I have a responsibility to protect our Montana values for my three kids and for all future generations of Montanans. Happy Father's Day to all hard-working Montana dads out there.

Three years ago it was my great privilege to be the first Montana governor to speak at a Montana Pride celebration. And this Pride Weekend we have much to celebrate, yet we recognize we still have work to do to ensure all Montanans are able to live free from discrimination. We Montanans have shared values: a sense of pride in this state and its people, a trust in our ability to get things done, and a belief that if we band together, our state and her citizens will shine even brighter tomorrow than they do today.

It's time for folks in Washington D.C. to start working across the aisle - like we've done here in Montana - to find meaningful solutions to actually increase the affordability and quality of health care across America instead of throwing thousands of Montanans, and millions of Americans, off their health insurance.

Congress is moving full speed ahead to pass legislation that will increase healthcare costs for hard-working Montanans and their families, cut coverage for seniors and kids, and gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions. And they're doing it behind closed doors.

A new independent report released by Manatt Health this morning confirms that these proposals will have devastating impacts on Montanans and our state's budget.
