In a few days, political candidates will be leaving Flint and Michigan. They will not be staying to help solve the crisis, but I am committed to the people of Flint. I will fix this crisis and help move Flint forward. Long-term solutions are what the people of Flint need and what I am focused on delivering for them. >> http://1.usa.gov/21g1YJs #FlintFWD

Another ribbon-cutting ceremony demonstrates the strength of Michigan’s Comeback! #ComebackState
"Michigan was in a deep hole in 2011. It would not have climbed out by doing the same things that helped get it there. The changes put in place by Michigan, the report concludes, “constituted a bold policy experiment.” #ComebackState
This is why we call Michigan the #ComebackState -->
" In the period 2000-07, while real U.S. gross domestic product grew annually at 2.5%, Michigan’s GDP grew at just 0.2%. From 2008-10, annual Michigan GDP contracted 2.8% versus the U.S. average of 0.4%.
But from 2011-14 Michigan annually outperformed the U.S. average (2.1% vs. 1.9%).
...The recovery is all the more impressive considering that Michigan was the only U.S. state to lose net population in the 2000s."

#nerdUP 2016 Day 2 Recap - The recently opened Clark Lambros Beach Park in Marquette is a beautiful new space in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula that includes kayaking, picnic tables, and beach access — which was made possible thanks in part to the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund.
On Tuesday, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund at the new beach park.
The fund aims to provide financial assistance through its recreation grants program to communities within the state to acquire land for parks and open space or to develop recreation facilities. --> http://bit.ly/2b5GUUR
In Michigan, we lost 766,000 jobs between 2001 and 2010. But in the past five and a half years, we have reinvented our state, creating more than 475,000 private sector jobs and decreasing Michigan’s unemployment rate to its lowest point in 15 years. That means more than 475,000 Michigan lives have changed for the better and that’s something to be proud of. --> http://bit.ly/2aZFZDk #ComebackState
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a place like no other, and each year, it’s one of my favorite visits. This week, I will be traveling more than 300 miles across the state’s U.P. stopping in different communities to meet the people who call the U.P. home.
There'll be daily recaps of my U.P. visit, and you can follow along on social media using the hashtag #nerdUp.

WATCH: The federal declaration of emergency that has been in place since January ended today. What does that mean for Flint residents? Well, not much actually. All services remain available.

The federal declaration in Flint ends tomorrow, but the state will continue to provide the same resources for free to all residents. In this piece from ABC12, you can see the warehouses stocked with filters and bottled water and hear from local residents who continue their work to deliver these resources to distribution centers across the city. The state remains committed to Flint's full recovery.
We are taking important steps toward building a future with fewer funerals and more second chances at life.

Bottled water is still available from the state for residents of Flint, but independent and government water quality experts say filtered water is safe for everyone. And using filtered water is helping to restore the system for you and your neighbors faster
