As we prepare for next week's Police Memorial Week (and this afterno...on's Police Memorial Ceremony) what better way to recognize and highlight the efforts of a local hero whose cause and heart tie so closely to the mission of honoring the sacrifice made by fallen officers. Run Across Michigan for Law Enforcement is a 160 mile 4-day run by Kent County Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputy Matt Garbarino June 7-10 from Detroit to St. Joseph, MI. He runs, well honestly because he's still a beast of a runner well into his 40's 😲, but more importantly because he is so passionate about paying respect to this noble and honorable profession, specifically the 20,267 names on the Police Memorial Wall. The Grand Rapids Police Department, as well as West Michigan law enforcement, stand behind his amazing testament. There are opportunities for the community to rally behind him as well! Many different forms of support, including his fundraising efforts, can be found at www.runacrossmi.com. #LocalHeroes #WeWillNeverForget #RAM2019 See More
Well done and thank you to this small group of strong, free thinking... young adults who have mentored the Chief throughout the year. 24 GR high school students have met with the Chief monthly as part of IMPACT, the Chief's Youth Advisory Council. 👏 Tonight they celebrated their last gathering for the school year. If you are interested in being part of the 2019-2020 IMPACT, looks for details coming soon! #GRPDpride #2019GRLeaders #IMPACT_GRPD See More
