We love Grandfather Mt. We were up there this past week and it was probably the coldest we have ever been due to the unbelievable wind! Beautiful park! We try to come every time we come to the mountai...ns. We do hope however that we are able to see the correct " current conditions", (wind, temps, etc.) that you can access online again soon. The same one has been posted for days. Even at the Mile High Swinging Bridge this week the last "current" readings were from April 5th. When we mentioned it to an employee the screen was shut off. Nevertheless, keep up the good work. Grandfather Mt. is truly a treasure! See More

I absolutely love Grandfather Mountain! I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. There are so many beautiful areas to explore and enjoy. Everything from the wildlife habitats to the Mil...e High Swinging Bridge are awe inspiring. You can’t beat the feeling of crossing the bridge and taking in the beautiful views. Make sure you add Grandfather Mountain to your “must see” list! See More

Grandfarther Mountain is a beautiful place to go. So much to see and beautiful views. Was one of my favorite places to take people to. I haven't been in awhile the swinging bridge made me nervous but ...I do want to cross it again. It is one of the things I would love to do this year. North Carolina has so many beautiful places in our own State. Grandfather Mountain is one of them. See More

This is awesome!! We visited Asheville for the first time (for me) and we decided to visit the mountains. This (Grandfather Mountain) was our second option, 'cause to get to the first option, the road...s were closed... and we were grateful for that. Lol! See More

Had a great time on the mountain last October! I had not been there since I was a child, over 30yrs ago!! We fed Mildred the bear marshmallows. You can't do that now, but we understand!! Our daughter... loved our visit, and we are hoping to come back very soon! The museum is fabulous, the fudge was a hit ( brought some to family too ), and that bridge is awesome, I didn't cross it but the rest of my family did. Hope to be on the mountain again soon !! Want a getaway from hussle of city traffic? Grandfather mountain is not for you. If I wanted to be stuck in my car for an hour, I would have gone to Charlotte, for free. Which is ironic, because be...fore you make your way to hiking trails, you can take a pit stop at their museum. There is a lovely exhibition about climate change and stopping pollution. Then you get in you car, burning gas, and contributing to climate change as you sit and wait for an hour before you go on the hiking trail. If that road was a hiking trail, you could possibly make it to the top quicker than being stuck in traffic.
Then there is the cost. $20 per a person. To see mountains. If you enjoy hiking, save your money and visit free location such as Du Pont or Crowders.
I came here for nature, but the majority of the trip was spent looking at the back of another car.

This has to have been the most beautiful place I've seen thus far. It's been such an awesome experience, I can't wait to go back to capture some more pictures. I went up there with the hope of getting... a great background for my business card and came back with the fact that I was able to overcome fear by walking back and forth across the Swinging Bridge. The staff in the Nature Reserve are so amazing I can't explain how awesome you are. So knowledgeable. So experience. They made my day. They made me want to come back. Thank you guys so much. See More

Absolutely love this mountain. So many things to do. My 6 year old loved the animals, the bridge, the hikes... We enjoyed it so much that we went two days in a row! The bridge is neat, but there are s...o many little adventures that you can take here. The staff was wonderful and the different encounters they have for kids are often overlooked, but worth doing. Yes it costs a little, but it goes back to making this a wonderful place and experience! Take your time and enjoy all the little nuances Grandfather has to offer!!! See More

I'm a grandfather of four, all born premature, two girls and two boys. My two granddaughters passed away at about a month old. I discovered Grandfather Mtn. in 2011 and make a journey here each yea...r. I also adopt animals in the habitat area as gifts for my grandsons each Christmas. As well as the attraction of the natural beauty found here. It has a become a place of spiritual significance for me. A place to look out at the beauty and to look within for the beauty. I love sitting at the top. Well worth the journey, Grandude See More

Had a very disappointing day trying to visit. Waited half an hour just to get in the gate. Extremely expensive--$20 per adult and $9 per child. Spent $100 and by the time we got to the top it was and they closed the bridge. No rain checks even though it was going to rain the rest of the day so we couldn't wait it out. As we were leaving they were still taking money at the gate even though no one could have gone to the bridge. They should advise people at the gate if there is a chance of it closing since it is so expensive. Cell service is very spotty in this area so we were unable to check forecasts before going. They however must have known. See More

I had a great time with the family today on Grandfather Mountain. My children loved the live animal habitats. My wife bought some great fudge. We all enjoyed the bridge especially when the cloud cover... made the other side of the bridge vanish. The kids were scared and excited at the misty cloud cover. It has a nice little nature museum as well. We will be back soon. See More

It's great to go and visit on a normal day, but coming to one of their Beauty of the Night events is AMAZING. You have to gamble on the weather cooperating, but the payoff if it does is getting to exp...erience the views, (some of) the animals, and well, the beauty of the night on Grandfather in a small group setting led by knowledgeable naturalists that teach you about the Mountain and the wildlife. I learned things about Grandfather I never knew. See More

I LOVED my whole entire experience here at Grandfather Mountain. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to and its one of the best places to visit in North Carolina. The views are bre...athtaking and are incredible for you to take pictures. They give you a cd player that has an audio guide you can listen to while driving on the route path. The staff here is incredible and seeing the wildlife here is amazing as well. It will definitely not disappoint. I would recommend visiting Grandfather Mountain when your in North Carolina. See More

"Thank you" does not quite cover it, but huge shout out to Gina, a member of the Naturalist Staff with Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation, who decided to go above and beyond today. My older d...og, Baby, got overheated at the park today to the point that I was concerned for her life. Gina not only carried a five-gallon jug of water to my location to pour over Baby, but also helped me put Baby in HER truck and drove us to the back of a building where other staff members were running water through a hose to get it cold. We both got Baby cooled off with the hose, and Gina waited until she knew that Baby was ok. She also recommended an after-hours animal hospital, but I'm glad to say that Baby is doing well. Thank you so much! ~ the Newton family. See More

It's a shame that such a beautiful place is so freaking expensive! We wanted to take our daughter to visit but it would have been over 50 dollars for us to go! With me going back to school and not wor...king as much we don't have that kind of money just to throw away. Maybe charge by the carload but not by the person! Not worth spending that for something God created. Make it affordable so everyone can enjoy that wants to enjoy it. It's just stingy to charge that much! See More

Another look at Grandfather's new male bald eagle. This off-display enclosure will be the home of the male and female for the next few weeks. The plan is to have the eagles in the new eagle habitat in mid-late April.
