As a parent, you may wonder whether your preschooler has a vision problem or when you should schedule your child's first eye exam. Eye exams for children are extremely important, because 5 to 10 percent of preschoolers and 25 percent of school-aged children have vision problems.* Early identification of a child's vision problem can be crucial because children often are more responsive to treatment when problems are diagnosed early.
Let's talk about the importance of not over wearing your contacts. So what’s the big deal?
Leaving contacts in for too long, or worse yet, sleeping in them is unsafe. Contact lenses are simply not designed to withstand either of these negligent practices. The longer a contact is worn, the less oxygen the eye receives. This is because the way the cornea is designed, it must receive oxygen directly from the air, and a contact lens inhibits this process.
Symptoms of wearing cont...acts too long:
Photophobia (light sensitivity)
Overgrowth of surrounding blood vessels
A good way to prevent over wear is to change your contacts on the same day every month, say the 1st! Take them out before you lay down at night to prevent falling asleep in them. Also, order an entire year supply at your annual exam so you wont run out!
An eye healthy juice to check out! #thirstythursday

Their mission is to bring vision to every person on the planet. They facilitate the provision and the sustainability of vision care worldwide for people who can neither afford nor obtain such care. Here are some pictures from the trip. More to come later! http://vosh.org/
Reminders: Leave us a review to get entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate AND we are running an awesome special on single vision lenses. If you've already purchased a pair of glasses, this could also be used as a second pair or prescription sunglasses!
