Tabfest returns for our final event at the Mendon Speedway, our home for the past 13 years! July 26/27, 2013.
As we gear up for Tabfest 2013, we wanted to brin...g our long-time supporters up to speed on plans for this year. Our 2013 event will be the last Tabfest.
Why? After 16 years, generating nearly $40,000 for local charities and collecting almost 10,000 pounds of aluminum tabs, the event has become less profitable. For a non-profit organization, this translates to less money for our charities.
This could be due to a tough economy, increased festival competition or bad weather. The bottom line is this event typically involves more than $50,000 in expenses and a tremendous effort from our heroic, 100 percent volunteer staff. The Harmony for Ohio Foundation (the nonprofit organization that operates Tabfest) has come to the conclusion that our efforts to raise money for local charities may yield stronger results if focused on other activities.
The Foundation board members decided that the show must go on for a final curtain call. Fortunately, we remain in a strong financial position for this year’s event. Though we’re scaling back the budget a bit – you will still note that many great regional and local Tabfest favorites make up a very solid line-up. We hope you will also appreciate Tabfest's inexpensive ticket prices.
Tabfest is more than just a festival. It’s a community. It is talented musicians, volunteers, dancers, vendors, friends and parents. It’s people who love music and care about helping other people. We know that the blood sweat and tears that have made this so great for the past decade and a half have formed a community that demands one last Tabfest party.
We’re asking you to support us as we write the final chapter of the Tabfest story. We know there are Tabfest alumni that may have moved on to other phases in life or otherwise drifted away from our event. Please come back to this year’s event for a reunion of love and music in the name of charity.
You know there ain’t no party like a Tabfest Party. Please help us go out in style.
