And that’s a wrap! Thanks for following along the 2018 #HK4TUC edition - we had a ball and hope you had as well.

Congratulations to all that finished, survived and participated. You are all awesome.

Special thanks go out to long-time dedicated supporter Lloyd at Lloyd Belcher Visuals, and also his wife Gabbie and their daughter Anya who tirelessly brought you live images from remote areas of the trails, some taking hours of hiking in adverse weather just for a single photo. ...Thanks also to Dominic Rigby for his valuable support at the start.

It was very special to see the local, and global trail community come together over these past few days. So many inspiring stories ...

8th challenge: Wed, 06 - Fri, 08 Feb 2019 (second to fourth days of Chinese New Year)

Expressions of interest: starting Summer 2018

The essence of #HK4TUC is one’s individual, self-supported trail journey over a very long, sustained period of time. Just for the fun of it – because the trails are there.

When Leung Wing Yan Nicole 梁穎恩 in July 2017 applied for an invite to the 2018 HK4TUC she wrote: “I feel like to challenge myself with something that seems impossible to me. It will be a very great experience for me to do a solo ultra distance.”

We are pleased to announce that Nicole receives the discretiona...ry special HK4TUC “Because the trails are there” Recognition to celebrate her passion and tenacity. Nicole completed what she set out to do, regardless of time and finisher or survivor status. Well done, Nicole, and we hope to welcome you again in a future HK4TUC edition!

At 71 hours into the Challenge we have two finishers (Salomon and Phairat) and one survivor (Meredith) so far.

We are awaiting the arrival of Will and Abi within the next hour. Ming Chu is just passing Lantau Peak and Fai is in Ngong Ping.

Nicole had to fend off several dogs in Yi O that took some time but she is now climbing out of Tai O.

At 61 hours into the 2018 #HK4TUC we have two finishers and six participants still out on Lantau trail with 14 hours to go until the Survivor and final cutoff.

That may sound like a long time, but keep in mind this is the third night in a row, hallucinations will increase and pace will decrease. There are also no stores open overnight so the runners will have to rely on what they carry with them. Who will survive the Challenge and who will decide to retire, so close to the finish ...
