We were recently asked if this new "ear cleaning tool" is effective. The short answer is NO. As they saying goes: "Don't stick anything smaller than your elbow in your ear!" While safer than a q-tip, there are several risks associated with inserting objects in your ears. Did you know that earwax has a protective function? It protects the skin of the ear canal, assists in cleaning, lubrication, and also defends against some bacteria, fungi, insects, and water. Under ideal cir...cumstances, the ear canals should never have to be cleaned. However, that isn’t always the case. Due to individual differences in cerumen (wax) production and ear canal size/shape, sometimes wax completely fills the ear canal, causing an impaction. This may lead to ringing in the ears, fullness, discomfort, decreased hearing, and other symptoms.
Over-The-Counter ways of softening/removing wax include softening drops followed by irrigating (rinsing out) the ear. Talk to your Doctor regarding the best way to clean your ears.
** DO NOT use cotton swabs or "ear candles" or stick any solid objects in your ears.
** DO NOT irrigate your ears if you have diabetes, a hole in the eardrum (perforation), tube in the eardrum, skin problems like ear eczema, or a weakened immune system.
>>> Our Doctors safely and painlessly remove wax under microscope, using micro-instruments, suction (vacuuming!) and irrigation, as is best indicated for each case. Contact us for more information and remember to vote for the Best of the Best
BEST HEARING AID CENTER
Magic is a 12 year old male Poodle whose owner passed away. He was matted, in rough shape and needed dental surgery to remove several teeth. He now has a clean bill of health, a good appetite and just needs some ! Magic loves warm sweaters, cuddles and furry friends. Can you help us find him a warm lap and someone to give him love and attention? He would be a great fit for a low-energy older owner. The benefits of animal companionship and relaxation in tinnitus management a...re significant; this sweet doggie will be a wonderful companion and we will cover the adoption fee! You can contact BestPals Animal Rescue Center for more information. ** Please Like & Share to help us find homes for these animals Thank you! **
P.S. > The Best of the Best Voting is now open! BestPals has been nominated under Local Non-Profit. We have been nominated for Best Audiologist, Hearing Aid Center and also for Best Place to Work and Green Business! Thank you for your votes and support.
