My hearing is one of my greatest assets and critical to my job as a professional musician and professor. As a musician who spends a good deal of time situated in front of brass sections and drummers ( offense intended), I have become very aware of the need to protect my hearing and very serious about doing it.

Today, I picked up some earasers, a great high-fidelity earplug, and I could not recommend them more highly. The fit is great and the material feels very comfortable in my ears. I am comfortable wearing them for long periods of time without irritation. However, most importantly, the sound is crystal clear. There is less occlusion to the sound than the earplugs I was using before, and the feeling is very close to how I feel when I play without earplugs (less echo in my head). I used them when practicing today with great success, and I am glad to be using them instead of my old earplugs at my pit gig tomorrow night. Obviously, there is a bit of an adaptation to having something in one's ears, and they will always sound different, but the attenuation is very flat and the sound is close enough that adapting is fairly easy.

I would gladly pay more than the cost of these for this product, but luckily they are very cost effective at approximately $40/pair. Compared to the immense cost of hearing aids, I would consider them quite worth it. For my friends with custom-fit earplugs, these might not be quite as good in terms of fit, but for my friends who are considering hearing protection or using foam earplugs, I highly recommend these.

I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Stelios Dokianakis of Holland Doctors of Audiology as my audiologist. Dr. Dokianakis understands every musician's need to not only be protected from loud sounds but also have crystal clear hearing. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Nobody is paying me to say these things -- I just want to recognize someone who I have trusted to protect my most valuable resource: my ears.

I am thrilled to have Dr. Dokianakis looking out for my hearing. I could not recommend him more highly.

My daughter had been seeing Dr. Cara Rasmussen when she was at Spectrum Audiology in Grand Haven. When she moved to Holland it was a no brainer to follow her to her next adventure! She is incredibly k...nowledgeable, is unbelievably amazing with kids and genuinely cares for her patients. The office in Holland is beautiful! The staff makes you feel right at home and is very personable which is hard to find now a days at a doctors office. You don't leave feeling like you should have been sent out on a conveyor belt! Absolutely recommend this practice for ALL ages! See More

I cannot not say enough about how wonderful this office is! The staff is amazing and always kind and helpful. Dr. Dokianakis is not only extremely knowledgeable but also takes his time to treat his pa...tients with respect and kindness. It was difficult to find out my second grade daughter had severe hearing loss, but Dr. Dokianakis has helped us to feel empowered and confident about the future. As a fourth grader now, she looks forward to her appointments and she is considering being an audiologist herself one day! See More

I strongly recommend Holland Audiology for hospitality, professionalism and very informative care.
At 60 years old I decided to get a baseline exam of my hearing and establish a relationship that woul...d offer me the best hearing health as I grow older.
Dr. Dokianakis tested me and explained the results clearly, and explained exactly what I could do to maintain optimum hearing. First class operation !

My wife and I met with Dr. Dokianakis about two weeks ago to gain more information about how to manage my hearing loss and tinnitus. This health issue has been something I have been battling for the ...better part of 2 decades now, so, suffice to say that I have a good knowledge base in this area. Not only was I impressed with Dr. D's extensive knowledge of tinnitus and how it is exacerbated by hearing loss, but also with his ability to communicate the information to my wife and I. I have already put into use one of his recommendations for better sleep, and have seen its benefit. It's my personal opinion that his clinic and staff are the "go to" professionals for consultation and treatment of hearing loss and tinnitus. See More

Dr. Dokianakis has done great wonders for my dad Ken Modrak. He can hear birds, crickets, my Mom and I, and even the sound that your hand makes as you slide it across the table (the little and big thi...ngs that everyone takes for granted) again which is a great benefit, but the best thing of all Dr. Dokianakis has helped him learn to manage his Tinnitus with the hearing devices. And they are not done yet. There is still room for improvement with managing his Tinnitus. It is a great pleasure to meet and get to know Dr. Dokianakis and the great staff. Every one is very friendly and always welcoming. Thank you to everyone at Holland Doctors of Audiology. See More

I want to thank the good Doctor for moving his practice to the Holland area. My Mother went to several audiologists and they just gave her hearing a cursory exam and then tried to sell her a hearing Same with my husband (he has had 3 other hearing aids that did not help him hear), but this doctor took time to thoroughly examine both of these people who are dear to me and prescribed the right aid for each of them. When we were in his office and my Mom has in her correct aides for the first time, the furnace in the building came on and my mom was surprised she could actually hear it. She was hearing things that she had not heard in years. I love this doctor and sincerely hope he is still here if and when I need help. See More

My mother is a patient there. I was the one who took her to Dr. D on the recommendation of my minister who was happy with his hearing aids. Mother had poor luck with hearing aids before and had spent ...a ton of money. Where you go DOES make a difference!!! She is now super pleased and so am I :-)
The Doctor is very professional, patient and kind to mom. You know that he really listens to you and cares. Testing was the most thorough she's ever had! The hearing aids we got cost about $5,500 which was $800 LESS than I was quoted from some places and $200 more than other places.. .yes, I wasted some time shopping around even though mom said she wanted to go with the hearing aids he tried on her. All hearing aids are expensive and service is what can make a difference. Mom was right. She got her aides from dR.Dokianakis and has been happy since. He deserves the #1 Best of Holland award they got. Congrats and thank you.

My Mom, Betty De Feyter was Dr. Dokianakis' very first patient. In fact, he hadn't yet officially opened his office and he gave Mom her exams. Once we knew of his intentions to open his office in Ho...lland we waited patiently for that day to arrive. Dr. Dokianakis is highly skilled, knowledgeable, attentive and informed. I wanted to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the professional service I received from Dr. Dokianakis and his staff!

I have experience as a signed/recording/touring professional music...ian, as well as a degree in pre-med with experience in both hospital, and clinical practices of medicine, including medical research. I am currently considering returning to medical school.

I found Dr. Dokianakis online when searching for professional in-ear monitors (IEMs). My music career began in the 1980's and I have done my best to care for my hearing including seeing several audiologists over the years.

I can honestly say that my experience with Dr. Dokianakis
was one of the best experiences I have ever had as a patient!
Ever! With my experience in the medical field as a health care provider, I can give no higher compliment to Dr. Dokianakis.

Not only does Dr. Dokianakis provide cutting edge information in research and knowledge of his profession (even with specific regard for musicians), he also possesses a great enthusiasm for his profession!

It is his passion for what he does as an audiologist
that is like experiencing someone fortunate enough
to have their hobby as a profession!

Dr. Dokianakis covered every possible aspect of options available to me as a musician with respect to high fidelity, cost, long term optimal protection, and quality concerns. He
addressed each and every question and concern I had; even
after my appointments, he responded quickly and thoroughly!

I ended up choosing Sensaphonics 3 MAX in ear monitors,
and two varieties of Sensaphonics musician's ear plugs.

I am amazed at the high fidelity quality of the 3 MAX in-ear monitors!

My passion lies within the studio, and I have found that the
Sensaphonics 3 Max in IEMs afford me incredible isolation
as well as being able to focus on nuances that you simply
cannot get from near field monitors. And you don't have to
use potentially damaging high gain to hear what you are looking for!

I also chose Sensaphonics the dB Check in-line IEM level checking to make sure the sound levels reaching my ears do no damage. I am very pleased with the assurance this device offers!

If you seek ultra professional and compassionate care for your hearing, I highly recommend Dr. Dokianakis and his staff!

Thank you Dr. Dokianakis for taking the time to
address all of my questions and concerns and for
helping me choose the best professional gear for
this musician's needs!

"Taking a bite out of deafness," by Patrick Center/WGVU
Hearing through your teeth!
Dr. Dokianakis interviewed on experience with SoundBite

We were recently asked if this new "ear cleaning tool" is effective. The short answer is NO. As they saying goes: "Don't stick anything smaller than your elbow in your ear!" While safer than a q-tip, there are several risks associated with inserting objects in your ears. Did you know that earwax has a protective function? It protects the skin of the ear canal, assists in cleaning, lubrication, and also defends against some bacteria, fungi, insects, and water. Under ideal cir...cumstances, the ear canals should never have to be cleaned. However, that isn’t always the case. Due to individual differences in cerumen (wax) production and ear canal size/shape, sometimes wax completely fills the ear canal, causing an impaction. This may lead to ringing in the ears, fullness, discomfort, decreased hearing, and other symptoms.
Over-The-Counter ways of softening/removing wax include softening drops followed by irrigating (rinsing out) the ear. Talk to your Doctor regarding the best way to clean your ears.
** DO NOT use cotton swabs or "ear candles" or stick any solid objects in your ears.
** DO NOT irrigate your ears if you have diabetes, a hole in the eardrum (perforation), tube in the eardrum, skin problems like ear eczema, or a weakened immune system.
>>> Our Doctors safely and painlessly remove wax under microscope, using micro-instruments, suction (vacuuming!) and irrigation, as is best indicated for each case. Contact us for more information and remember to vote for the Best of the Best

Can you help us find him a warm lap and someone to give him love and attention? He would be a great fit for a low-energy older owner.
