This handsome fella is Tom. He's one of our Downer engineers who worked on the project, and willing participant to be the (cardboard cutout) face of the Hamilton Ring Road for this amazing Wintec exhibition. The exhibition is currently being held at Wakiato Museum and if you havnt already, do pop along. It's free! See link for details...http://www.visithamilton.co.nz/…/visual-ar…/linking-the-city
Good morning Hamilton! Cobham Drive commuters you will be happy to know that by next week (possibly sooner 😉), you will have your road back (yusss!) Pedestrians and cyclists, this fence is coming down as I type so enjoy! Travel safe everyone #TGIF
Morning Hamilton! A few things about Cobham Drive underpass works today...
1. Please drive slowly as we have our superstar STMS Colin and his superstar team working in the median today. Please dont hit them.
2. The left turn into Grey St has reopened.
3. The 6m long sheetpiles for the second half of the underpass are going in today and progress is great 🖒
Cobham Drive Underpass final traffic shift will be occuring in the early hours of tomorrow morning, so please be mindful of these changes and stick to the 50kph speed limit. This traffic shift is so the second and final section of the underpass can be constructed. Thanks for your ongoing patience everyone 👍
Cobham Drive underpass update: All traffic will be on the northern lanes before rush hour tomorrow morning. Traffic heading out of Hamilton was moved over on Su...nday night and traffic heading towards the city will move tomorrow morning to make way for construction on the gardens side of the underpass. So watch out for the new layout and remember it’s a 50km/h zone for everyone’s safety.
UPDATE: Cobham Drive Underpass full traffic shift will now be complete before rush hour Wednesday morning (delayed due to crane being held elsewhere).
Pavement works went ahead last night so the first traffic shift is now in place. Eastbound traffic (towards Cambridge) is now running along the Sillary St side of the works, our crew is working in the median strip and the westbound traffic is still running along the Gardens side of the road. The final barrier shift is planned to take place early hours of tomorrow morning. Please drive slowly and be mindful of the new layout folks and have a great Monday!
Cobham Drive update: Theo is Downer's Project Engineer for the Cobham Drive Underpass project. Here he is using his clegg hammer to help confirm that the pavement is indeed too wet to asphalt over (thanks Mother Nature!). This means works and traffic shifts will unfortunately be delayed until next week. Drive safe in this wet weather everyone! PS...under this pavement is the first half of your new underpass 👍
DELAYED because of weather but will update again when a new date is confirmed.
Tonight (7pm to midnight & weather permitting) Downer will be carrying out some asphalting works on Cobham Drive. Traffic flow will be maintained but please stick to the 50kph speed limit - it's there for a reason 😉 By the end of the week both lanes will be shifted to the opposite side of the road so works can kick off to complete the underpass for you all. 5 star rating to you all for being so patient! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Heads up to Cobham Drive users and residents: We will be moving traffic lanes at the Cobham Drive underpass over the next few days. Tonight between 7pm-midnight... the crew will be asphalting the northern side where the underpass has been installed – the first step in getting traffic on to that side on the highway. Traffic will be moved on to the northern side in two stages, weather dependent but probably by the end of the week, allowing excavation on the gardens side of the road. Thanks for your patience everyone.
Attention Cobham Drive commuters! There will be a couple of upcoming traffic switches later this week (weather permitting) as Downer begin their move to the other side of the road to complete the underpass. The traffic layout will basically be the same as it is now, just moved to the other side of Cobham Drive. Please remember to stick to the reduced speed limit of 50kph through site 👍
Work on the Cobham Drive underpass in Hamilton is moving along, including these Sillary Street entrance gabion boxes filled with rock which form part of the ret...aining wall. Depending on progress this week there are likely to be lane changes, with traffic moved on to the completed units of the underpass. So please keep to the speed limit and watch for changes.
