Just leaving the Inn after a blissful two day Birthday stay. In the Drover's room, we slept on a comfy four poster king in front of a fireplace. Every detail is perfect. We love everything, sitting r...ooms with great books and magazines. Lovely owners, Inn keepers and staff. And, absolutely five star kitchen.
Can't wait to go back!

Chef Benjamin Harwood has added a new and flavorful twist to the inn's menu. He also creates the most amazing vegan dishes to accommodate my diet. And the Sazerac cocktail is a favorite of mine, too.... Last night all the fireplaces were on making it especially "hyggeligt". See More

Great bar, beautiful inn and helpful staff. Breakfast doesn't start until 8am so not ideal for early risers but still enjoyable. No 24-7 staff so make sure you have everything you need before bed! Oth...erwise, the staff and inn are lovely and happy to help! See More

We sat outside and had an absolutely wonderful meal. We started with cocktails, perfectly made. Then the peach salad which had so many layers of flavor. For dinner salmon that was unbelievable and filet. The service was superb. Hats off to the new chef for a fabulous night. Can't wait to go back! See More

The attention to detail that owners Marcia and Jarvis Coffin have given the Hancock Inn became apparent the moment Catherine and I stepped into the lobby, when I pulled out my wallet and Marcia told m...e to put my money away and she and Jarvis greeted us with an old-fashion handshake. Marcia then gave us a tour of the inn, starting with a quaintly furnished sitting room and a colonial tavern with wooden plank flooring and a bar downstairs. We passed a cozy reading nook in the hall stationed at a window at the top of the stairs. As we entered our spacious room our hearts opened up. While the room’s colonial charm (private fireplace!) was consistent with the rest of the inn, Marcia and Jarvis also managed to provide modern luxurious accommodations, which meant we didn’t have to have to sleep on a horse-hair mattress or listen to pipes rattle inside the walls like some ghost’s ball and chain. We stayed in The Bell Tower suite and, despite the name, we had a sound sleep in a comfortable canopied bed with a breeze wafted over us from a soundless air conditioner. Throughout the inn, the quality of workmanship in the woodwork, the colonial furniture and period artwork bolstered a warm and authentic atmosphere, but the overall cleanliness won Catherine and me over. No stained chairs or worn carpets or spider webs anchored to table legs. In the morning we enjoyed a fresh home-style breakfast in the tavern, which overlooked the expansive, well-kept grounds that included their organic vegetable garden. The garden is actually kept up by Jan, one of the Hancock Inn’s stellar employees. Her strawberries would turn the Jolly Green Giant even greener with envy. See More

Wow, just wow! The cocktails, spot on. The starters, delectable. The entrees, exactly what we ordered...the menu descriptions didn't lie. Oh but wait...the desserts, completely worth the calories. ... The service and personal attention from the owners and Manger were a very special touch. We will be back sooner than later, and we can't wait! See More

Took my mom here for her 90th birthday dinner on Wednesday. We noted that the menu was different and kept asking our waitstaff if it was new, to which she replied that it was not. My husband and I h...ave celebrated two anniversary dinners here and this time the restaurant was not the one we had dined at before. We were not told there were were new owners, even though we asked. Our skirt steak had a very flavorful sauce but the meat was tough and fatty and definitely not worth $38. We will find a new restaurant to celebrate our anniversary next year. See More

You won't find Any place in Boston that's upscale that can beat their food. The local raised venison was out of control yum! The homemade corned beef hash was amaxing. Got the recipe! It takes 3 days prep. They make their own bread. The flourless chocolatw cake was perfection.

The innkeepers are wonderful. Their dog Porter is a wonderful extra therapy piece.

Worth every dim spent.

Such a beautiful place and excellent food with friendly service.
Happy Birthday Fox Tavern!
The finale (some of it) of Hancock's Fourth of July fireworks display was caught on tape by youngest, intrepid son. Small town. Big spirit.

Many thanks to the Harvard Krokodiloes of the '70s who made the rounds in the Fox Tavern last weekend to the delight of all our guests, especially one young couple celebrating their wedding-night. They didn't ask for a 14-person a cappella group to commemorate the occasion table-side, but they got one.

It was negative 14 degrees when we woke up this morning in Hancock, New Hampshire, a new low in a stretch of lows over the last several days.

Under the circumstances, we could sure use an outdoor bar right now, just to get through it.

HANCOCK — The brand-new bar Ignacio Oreamuno owns is made of smooth, light-brown wood with whorled grains. It juts out, allowing the bartender 270-degree access to customers. Copper shelves and

Number One for breakfast this morning, apparently. (Very clever.) Thank you!

Many thanks to Santa for swooping into our Seventh Annual Christmas Open House. He's a jolly elf, that Santa.

Kim Graham of GoMonadnock ( was there with her remote camera crew to capture some of the buzz at our Fox Tavern tasting event this past week and talk with Chef Benjamin Harwood. Very fun. Thank you Kim!

The Man and His Caravan.

Ignacio Oreamuno rolled into town in July 2016, or thereabouts, pulling his caravan (mobile home) behind him. He'd been everywhere ("man") over the prior year putting distance between himself and several years of successful entrepreneurship in Toronto, and New York City. He talked his way into bartending for us at the inn and was an engaging member of our team for the next year, or so, adding a dashing, Latin note to our New England country overtones....

Now he's off again (or back) and he's pulling a new caravan, The Troubardour, an ultra-deluxe outdoor mobile cocktail bar of his creation that will make it's public debut at The Hancock Inn and Fox Tavern on Saturday, December 2nd.

The party starts at 3:30 PM and goes until 7:00 PM. There is no charge to just to come and see. Food and drink will be available through ticket sales.

Regular dinner service starts at 5:30 PM. Reservations are always encouraged.

Come see the man and his caravan.
