In a recent study that was completed by humanitarian aid Organization named Save the children. Louisiana was ranked as the worst state for children in the nation One of the leading categories for this study was the fact that consistently the education system in Louisiana ranks at the bottom or near the bottom of those here in the United States, my friends these statistics are unacceptable to me and the millions of. Right here in the state of Louisiana. for over a decade, my wife and I have worked in education from universities to community colleges from primary to secondary and even early childhood education, not only in that decade. Have we worked in education but we have raised four incredible children. Sydney Z Israel and As an admissions counselor and Upward Bound, director and State University and even in my most recent role as the leader of the impact mentoring agency, it has been my honor to inform and inspire students and teachers as well as communities all across the state of Louisiana, I have literally spent years listening to the hopes and dreams of students along with the frustrations and exhaustion of teachers. I know that it has been said. And we should not reinvent the wheel, but we are going to have to do a lot more than change the tires in order to get traction here in Louisiana. so here's the plan first and foremost we have to increase teacher pay and then we've got to go about expanding the teacher loan forgiveness program and lowering the years of qualifications. Next we must invest in the eradication of the digital divide in order to ensure that each and every child. S access to High-speed Internet as well as high quality digital tools, even if we have to leverage the assets of the National Guard to ensure that there is Wi-Fi in each and every home as well, we must ensure that future crisis like this are not exacerbated by implementing virtual development drills on a consistent basis, each and every school each and every year must be required to implement two weeks of 100 percent virtual instruction. Two weeks of virtual instructional development in conclusion, we must support educational advancement by creating access to free two -year, associate degrees and all the sias that are needed for student's success.
