“HLAB stands in solidarity with the #PrisonStrike and those protesting modern day slavery and institutionalized racism and exploitation.”

In honor of Harvard Law School's Bicentennial, our former Communications Director Nadia Farjood '18 spoke with Congressman Joe Kennedy III about his time at the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, and how it influenced his trajectory in public and political life as an advocate of civil legal aid.

This tee's up our plug for our session this Friday 4/20 in WCC's Millstein on "Innovative Legal Services in an Era of Uncertainty," featuring:

- Eloise Lawrence, Community Lawyering Clinica...l Instructor at HLAB
- Blake Strode, Executive Director of ArchCity Defenders
- Dean Emeritus Martha Minow, Vice Chair of the Legal Services Corporation
- Jenna Collins, HLAB family alumni and Housing Staff Attorney at Philadelphia's Community Legal Services
- Mike Grinthal, Supervising Attorney in the Community Development Project of NY's Urban Justice Center
- Honorable Fern Fisher, former Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for NYC and currently a Professor and Special Assistant for Social Justice Initiatives at Hofstra

They're discussing varying aspects of innovation - from community models to tech, pro bono to funding streams, legal education to local, state, and federal government. As student attorney Gillian Schaps '18 puts it, "It promises to be the second most exciting Bicentennial event, second only to the donut wall."

Shout out to Gillian and Cathi Choi for their diligent work in putting this panel together. See you there!
