Last night in Lincoln, Nebraska, the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) held one its district competitions. Nine choirs, mainly from Kansas and Nebraska competed including Hastings College's men's a cappella group 1-2-5, and the five-piece ensemble known as Millennial Vibe. Three groups were chosen as winners, with the top two groups eligible to move on to regional competition in Phoenix, AZ on March 31st.
I'm pleased to announce that Millennial Vibe p...laced 2nd in the overall competition, along with Andrew Koubek being selected as the outstanding vocal percussionist (his second year in a row for that designation). Members in the group (from L-R in the picture) include Nathan Jensen, Karli Cabrera, Kaitlynn Schreiner, Andrew Koubek, and Jonathan Heredia. Millennial Vibe was by far the smallest group in the competition with most groups having between 15 to 30+ members.
The overall winner of last night's event was from Rice University in Texas.
1-2-5 had a wonderful performance last night as well and received some great comments from the panel of judges..
Congratulations to all 1-2-5 and Millennial Vibe members. Thank you for continually proving that Hastings College's Department of Music is THE liberal arts music program in Nebraska!

It is also quiet, yet beautiful, vibrant, and joyful--much like all the music we make within these walls! I encourage you to seek (and share) recent performances from Hastings College music ensembles on YouTube. From all of us in the Department of Music at Hastings College, we wish you a Happy New Year! /Dr. Jensen
